In my experience with EW6, I have found that artillery generals or infantry generals are much more useful than cavalry ones. Here’s a example, I had a purple cavalry general that I bought with the medals the game gave me at the start. I couldn’t even get past the last American mission, so I traded him in and got Napoleon III (not the gold Napoleon) and with him and the generals the game gives you, I have steam rolled that last American mission and most of the French campaign. Infantry is also very helpful. I think cavalry is very underpowered in this game as well, so none of my upgrades to technology are going there. I hope this helps anyone that is struggling with any of the first missions. So buy artillery generals. Let me know your opinion on this.

I think the reason why Cavalry is struggling is because every unit is so tanky. Even light artillery has almost 200 health.

Mountbatten, I definitely agree. The only reason I would get a cavalry General was if it was Murat. Hopefully this will help some people, because at first I thought cavalry would be a lot like tanks in WC4, which were very good, but definitely no resemblance.

We should get the generals unlocked in the challenges. They not only are cheap, but also pretty powerful. If you complete all the challenges, you can get up to 50% off for those commanders.

Ohh some of these are on sale via challenges then? That's fantastic! Which one did you feel was very powerful?

I believe that the only 2 you should get out of these challenges should be Bagration and Lannes. Others are trash compared to the ones in the shop. Bagration cavalry is excellent for defense of cities, while Lannes infantry is perfect for attacking cities and cavalries. However, I do recommend to not get Lannes ASAP, as he isn’t as good as the top generals. These 2 generals cost around 700 each when it’s 50% off. If you want artillery generals, get Moltke. It’s probably not worth it to save up to kutuzov.

The % off missions of these generals are very high in difficulty. By the time you get 50% off you should have a well decent team built as they Already gave u 3/8 generals. Just by 3 staring Declaration of Independence alone is good decent, scrimping for some medals in challenges earns you around 2000 medals. Which is enough for some of the better good tier ones.

Excellent point xerexes, the amount of extra slots a player plan on buying (or not buying) makes a big difference in the planning of the generals roster.

Cav is bad in this game, artillery in Russian conquest with upgrades is as fast and more effective

It depends. As a state at the Meditarean I love the navy. To attack Russia I always take heavy cavalry But for everything else I take artillery guarded by infantery

Infantry is important. ET nerfed calvary a lot. Artillery is OK

Jesus Christ, War Master responded to my post, but to follow up on my post, you should have 2 infantry and 2 artillery at least in my opinion, which isn’t very hard because the game gives you 2 infantry and one artillery generals for free.

I would say it is too early to judge yet. There is always a discrepancy between actuality and potentiality (using philoisophical terms ) in recent ET games. For example, in WC4 many players struggled using even best tank generals at the beginning, but in the end tank generals are your best friends (thanks to tech tree+upgraded skills+medals). We have to wait and see what best cav generals with medals and upgraded skills could do in EW6 as well...
