On this mission if you flank the middle city you get given units and industry which you need for 3 stars but your Portuguese ally eventually dives head first into the enemy and if he dies you fail the mission.

this mission is pretty tricky. i got 3 stars . first, moving in by taking the bottom left city and sending only the artillery unit to support the portugese. while trying to capture the bottom left city, 2 enemy unit will attack your ally.(1cavalry and 1 infantry). dont bother attacking the cavalry. because it will go and attack your city.(used the cavalry to lure the portugese genenral away from the main battle). after taking the bottom left city. i focused all my units to take the middle city. (the portugese general will try to join the battle, so placing your units to block the movement of the general is important. if u block him, he will go and attack the lone cavalry unit that is being used to lure him earlier). after securing the middle city, attack the bottom right city to get more resources.I also kept upgrading my city to get more resources. it will be easy till then. but keep an eye on your ally. aura buff is important for this mission. i used, massena and karl and murat. i hope u can understand my tips. im sorry if its a bit complicated.

I tried going to bottom left as previous posts suggest but Belsford quickly committed suicide. Therefor, tried again using all my forces to guard Belsford and going instead for Junot in middle city. This worked, as now Belsford was protected and Junot quickly was dispatched then the artillery general came and also defeated. Then turned west to where the other Cavalry general is,you do get reinforcements a rocket and infrantry that land near that last city that help.

I placed my inf units to block the Portuguese general but I was winning to quickly before I got 600 industry, the Portuguese killed off all the reinforcements. I found out if your ignore the artillery unit on the temple, it just stays there. That is the last target the Portuguese will try to kill, and you can keep the game going to turn 15.

I cannot win this one. I destroyed the 3 targets on turn 11, but the game continued. Belsford made suicid missions, going to the fort, then to the NE reinforcement... And he died just before turn 15. I've tried to block him with 5 troops, to dirige him to the cavalry next to NW city... But it didn't work. He made his way to the main battlefield and lost HP quickly. The only way i see to win surely is to destroy all the ennemies before they destroy him. So i will come back later with higher forces.

This is designed to be a "Hold" or defence Challenge with elements of a "Strike" or wipe out the enemies and accumulate resource types of missions. The true objective is to hold the target for 15 Turns aka ensure Beresford lives until Turn 16 AND defeat all 3 gens. You are right in wanting to eliminate all enemies before Beresford is taken out. For this, more firepower is needed. When all the French have been eliminated, the mission automatically ends.

Well, i do prefer "Land golf Juan", because the challenge finish when you take the city with Napoleon still alive in the sea... But a challenge is a challenge, even with a Belsford runing everywhere like a chicken with his head cut off.

I finally did it (one star). It was about firepower and a bit of luck. With upgraded generals, i could destroy the ennemies before Belsford was to exposed to danger. The two next challenge were easier. Now, i'm stucked at "support spain". Again a question of power. I must be patient.
