Hi everyone this is my second post after Romania guide... wanted to try against what was known as impossible: Thailand in 1939(1943 is impossible). For this conquest, a good infantry general and a tank general is a must have. Artillery generals and navy generals can make it much easier but are optional. The generals i used are all of what I had, vatutin and yamashita(very feasible to farm for f2p players), where I had leader skill on both to score critical hits, rumour on vatutin and guerrilla on yamashita. However, messe can be used too, and any other infantry general with at least 3 stars might work too. The reason for having them is for strong defense, Thailand will get attacked by massive allied invasion forces, India UK China France Egypt USA and Australia. You should also have tech upgrades for at least improved movement for all types of units, and at least improved range of aircraft. If not, the conquest would not be an easy one to beat. Landmarks are optional but trading market is useful. Now, onto the main strategy.
First of all, you start of well with phibun the field artillery gen and some infantry. The nearby cities are relatively unguarded and the only generals to worry about are wavell, the UK gen, chen s.k, the China destroyer gen, and thimayya, the India infantry gen. Start attacking Hanoi with your infantry, and get phibun to Kuala Lumpur but don't attack. Build a medium tank and on round 2 the infantry should have left Kuala Lumpur and attack it fiercly. For the next few rounds get Hanoi asap and use fighters if u have to, and then place a light infantry to guard it and move any surviving troops back to Bangkok. Keep placing medium tanks against the hordes of attacking troops, and by turn 6 or 7 Kuala Lumpur should be yours after strong resistance. Clear Singapore quickly by round 8 with phibun and the first invasion phase is done.
The next phase, the defense phase 1. On round 10 send everyone from Singapore back to defend Bangkok. By now you should have built your trading market landmark. On the next few rounds, there will be 2 different defending objectives for your cities. For Bangkok, it's wiping out the attackers, but for Hanoi it's holding them off. In short it means that your objective in Bangkok is to destory the invading allied forces asap, and for Hanoi is to keep using light infantry to hold out. You should be saving up for your 3 star medium tank for your tank gen. In round 14 the invasion will be less heavy and you can move phibun to attack Phnom Penh. Use your motorised infantry to take the French port then put him back up on land. Then, Bangkok will be completely surrounded and all hope seems lost, until you realise that you have money for you 3 star medium tank gen, place him in Bangkok and watch him annihilate the invaders. Use him to then attack and take Yangon while phibun takes the cities in the east of bangkok. Place infantry in every city with enemy invading as you can't afford to lose it and try to take it back. Don't build any excess troops, keep defending Hanoi but don't attack to save health, and save up for a 4 star motorised infantry with your infantry gen. Use him to destroythe troops attacking Hanoi, then use him to invade India with your tank gen. Alexander will spawn in Yangon but your tank gen should make short work of him, and a usa gen will arrive by sea to harass you, but use phi bun to repel him. Japan should be faring very well due to the Indians completely being focused on attacking you.
Now for the invasion part 2, invade India with your generals. Your infantry gen is very useful as he can hit hard and travel far and fast, generating income for your next challenge. Save up enough money to use fighters to take the city in sumatra, and build one light tank and an armoured car and station them in Sumatra. If you have an artillery gen use him instead of the two armoured units. Build a 3 star submarine on your former French port and move it to take the port of Jakarta. For the port for Yangon, it's not too impt, take it when you have the resources. Your conquest into Europe via Russia should be very smooth sailing with Japanby your side, and you can even take Minsk stalingrad and Moscow if they haven't fallen yet. Africa is optional.
The next tough part is Australia. By now you should have started to notice the HUGE horde of troops Australia has gathered, as well as their huge navy. Defend Sumatra at all costs by stopping anything that the enemy sends by sea. Build at least 3 to 5 3 star submarines, 1 or 2 cruisers and 2 destroyers and toggle between landing hits on the Australian cruisers, and sinking the unit carriers(v impt). A navy gen is optional but can make the onslaught less devastating for your defending navy. After the wave, Australia would be too tired to start another full scale invasion, and attack Jakarta, Borneo and the Philippines with your cruisers, then take them and work your way slowly to Australia, taking out ports and smashing cities with your cruisers, soon Australia would be yours and you can invade the midway islands and hawaii easily.
Even though after all this the remaining clean up of the dying allies is easy, there is one crucial deathtrap you should take note of. Keep your eyes on a coruna in Spain, and in some point of mistake you will notice a mass of heavy tanks by the USA invading it. By then you should have cleared the two challenges, the defense of Bangkok and the repelling of Australia, and then send ALL your cash every round for Spain. If not(my first time trying thailand) usa will breeze through Spain and get their hands on Lyon and Paris, and crush Germany and all your European axis friends together with the UK with billions of heavy tanks, and all you can do is watch as the allied powers tear through you infantry and medium tanks in Russia, and in the end reach Bangkok. If you support Spain they will most likely use it to fund their Africa campaign, but they would at least have the spare cash to defend a coruna and destroy the heavy tanks. Don't worry about the UK as when you start moving your troops towards usa UK will be flooded by axis troops.
So that's it, the supposedly hardest axis country to play as in 1939 can be cleared by a decent noob like me(I can't even clear 1943 campaign with Egypt or Brazil... im so nub haha:( ). So for pros or hackers with end game generals this should be very easy, but for average weak players like me Thailand is a good challenge for your strategy too. Leave any questions or comments here, will be gunning for konev and I will do a Hungary guide for 1939 soon Thanks!
