Terrrible, loses even to silver generals on infantry, his skills are nothing special.
Would not recommend.

Good in attack cities and capture it fast, he have mobility and if you give him a fasces of power (15% chance to increment by 100% when fighting) he can be very bulky

A reasonably good pick for 2nd or 3rd infantry general (need someone like ver or pompey prior). 4/5 stars, but 2-3/5 if used in the wrong way, such as sending him up against a war elephant. Use him wisely, he is a bit fragile

Do note that he's the best Infantry/cavalry hybrid unit in the game. He can reach 8 points for infantry and 7 for cavalry, thus can both fill the role of infantry and/or cavalry city destroyer. He loses his talent and tunnel when in cavalry, but can function decently well because of March and Siege.

I bought crassus it today. and he have a good +1 hex of movement in heavy infantry, I give him a crossbow and the Banner of Titan and he is really good, i rate him the 2nd best infantry general,even better than Vercingetorix, because he have more maneuverability because march, march in lvl2 give +1 hex and in lvl4 give +2 hex in heavy infantry,
Siege + Tunnel, Talent + Crossbow for attack enemys when we dont siege cities and Talent + Crossbow + Counterttack when Crassus is attacked, Vercingetorix need the Laurel Crown (i will use the laurel crown for my command) for use Roar, Jungle fight have a +20 points attack, but Jungle fight is not very easy to use, He is better in survivability and in a fight 1vs1 verci wins, but in overall, Crassus Wins for me.

Fighting Crassus is not fun as the kingdom of Pontus I would say that building your free commander into a crassus copycat is also a smart idea (if you want him to be an infantry general) |

Tunnel is one if not the best skill for infantry.... it's a nuke. Alone its bad, but with siege its amazing. Also the skill besiege is a bit overrated. Since your archer has no retaliation damage, would it be better to attack a general stronger than you. Its a good skill don’t get me wrong, but I probably wouldn’t it on my free commander. |

No one knew in the begining of the game how important and hard city cracking will be. High defence bonus for city defenders and multiple city tiles with lots of hit points make a lot of problems in higher campaign chapters so this kind of setup for commander and use of Crassus is preferable. I have Vercingetorix also but he is more for open ground battle against archers and defense and he does his roles great.
