Boii is a nation allied to Rome, and Is surrounded by hostile parties. If you think this conquest would be difficult, you'd be right( if it's your first time playing the conquest, or you're used to playing conventionally). I'll give some pointers to make the conquest easier for you.
Following the strategy of surviving, first thing to consider is the allies or enemies around. Rome Crassus is your closest ally, but they won't be that reliable. They're like an acquaintance that only appears when throw out parties, and dips when you need help. Rome Caesar is the same, but it's more of an overworked friend that doesn't have time to lend a hand. Your enemies, meanwhile, are wolves waiting for you to make a mistake. So you're screwed right? Wrong. There are 2 approaches that are effective, but one is better than the other. And that's what i'll show you.
First off, upgrade your national technology as follows: poetry>irrigation>Metallurgy,Drainage system. You can upgrade whatever order you want, but if you want efficiency, go for this.
Now, you actually have a reliable ally nearby, you just haven't bought them out yet . That's the Illyria kingdom. Pay off the numidia kingdom. That makes it so they can help Rome Pompey conquer Spain. Then pay up your Illyrian allies 150 economy and 70 industry for their troubles. Keep doing this until turn 5. For now, go attack Scordisci, the closest and greatest threat to your great empire of Boii.
Just surround the cities, until turn 3 turns around, before the Scordisci realizes what's happening and finally enters war.
I used Hannibal and Vercingeterix (i'll call him Asterix) so for the purpose of this guide, i'll mention Hannibal instead of "your cavalry gen", and Vercingeterix for " your infantry gen". Of course, if you have an archer gen but no cavalry and infantry gen, then just follow the general idea of what to do . Use hannibal to attack Segestica, along with backup archer and infantry unit. As for your units on the North, DO NOT ATTACK ACQUINCUM. Your units will be damaged, and you won't accomplish your goal of capturing it. Just position your units and attack the nearby structures instead. At turn 4, let hannibal destroy the defender for Segestica, and capture it using your infantry unit. Meanwhile, the enemy general should have moved away from Acquincum. Use the strategy "destroy"(Instead of using the word destroy which may be confusing, i'll be using the word blast instead later on) to damage Acquincum. Then let your units surround Acquincum and hit it repeatedly. It should almost be destroyed or destroyed.
Turn 5, the cavalry has arrived. Use all your remaining forces to overwhelm Acquincum. You should be able to do it if you have a cavalry gen, and even without you should be able to capture Acquincum and defeat Scordisci.
In my playthrough , the pirates decide to show up and demand payment. Pay them if you are able to and do not need the economy to train units to defend your cities. Don't pay them if you don't. Better to pay earlier tho while enemies aren't attacking your cities, so you can refuse them when you really need the economy.
For turn 6 and 7, concentrate your forces and focus on beating the closest enemy : Dacia kingdom, specifically the city Singidunum
It doesn't matter who captures it, as long as it's captured is the objective.
Now that Singidunum falls, your hannibal, asterix and one other unit should group up and attack Sarmizegetusa. Send your boii general and your remaining units back towards Acquincum to defend it from invaders.
Just keep sending your Boii general northward, stopping by stables or archery/cavalry grounds to add more units to his command. Train more units too to increase the chances of repelling the invaders. Just don't use all your economy, or else you may run the risk of not having money for protocols. Hannibal and Asterix should be capturing the Dacia kingdoms city, and they should capture northwards, since the Illyria kingdom and Rome Crassus should be dealing with the southern Dacian cities. You now have some options.
If Egypt fails to capture Salamis, then send units to go help them beat your enemies there. After that, just keep using Hannibal and Asterix to capture Dacian cities, and after your boii general successfully defeat the invaders, it's time to turn your focus to Suebi. If you have the resources , time to pay off the other neutral group Mauretania to help Rome Pompey.
After Tomis falls, your next enemy which is the Bosporan kingdom should be your next conquest, although you will not use generals to invade them(of course, if you used more than 2 generals than feel free to use some generals to subjugate them.) Defeat the Suebi using the combined might of Asterix and Hannibal, your boii general with your remaining units, and your allies. Continue marching towards Gaul lands, until you finally beat the conquest.
That's it. The screenshot of my victory screen was using the other strategy, which of bribing Illyria, would be to bribe egypt to enter the war at turn 2, which is also an interesting strategy, although not as effective as the bribe Mauretania one. stoic , andrei , done with the conquest guide for Boii. Why not give it a try
