Since this is about the new conquest, I think it is more appropriate to be here, instead of the original thread about the update. Here, AlterFritz , Upper and lower Left Upper and lower Right Huo on a 5 stacks Imperial Guard with (1715HP and all skills at lvl5) is no joke.

Based on the map, your 3*s are your 2 superpowers - The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire plus Parthia. Interestingly, the Han and Rome share almost the same strengths and weaknesses.
Rome and the Han's disadvantages are obvious:
1. They are surrounded by enemies and potential enemies.
2. Their allies directly border each other.
3. Rome lacks strength in number of allies. (Unique to Rome)
The Han and Rome's advantages are:
1. Their very large territories: Stretching from the Appeninne Peninsula (except for Pirate controlled Sardinia and Corsica) to bits of North Africa to the lands in the Balkans and Near East. (Rome) Most of the Ural mountains, Central Asia and Siberia, plus bits of Europe. (The Han)
2. Rome has well coordinated allies that basically surround the weakest 3* - Parthia. If Rome's allies survive and cooperate, Parthia is literally free real estate despite Parthia outnumbering the smaller states in terms of number of gens. (Rome) The Han has strength in numbers and a wide distribution of allies. This is good for pre-occupying Rome on all it's major fronts while you deal with each threat one by one. (The Han)
3. Rome's many enemies also border it, are very small and uncoordinated. Half of the active tribes in what's left of Germania, Gaul and Belgica rise up immediately against Roman rule. If Roman takes them out one by one, the resistance to Rome's north is easily dealt with. (Rome) Most of Rome's allies are right next to you. The Bosphorus, Armenia, Albania, etc. If you surgically remove them one by one, you can expand your territory at little cost. (The Han)
Random Chance: There are numberous states who will extort resources in return for precious resources. If they are satisfied, they will provide temporary mercenary work.
There are also numerous neutral states which you can influence. The one in Denmark is a state that will permanently join your side while the rest will do mercenary work for you only when paid well.
IMO, this can probably make or break each faction because this is a war of attrition as much as it is a race to control individual battlefields. Of course, the more allies you have and the less enemies you make, the better.

The 3 neutral states beside Denmark will only join your faction 3 times. If u can’t tilt the balance by then, good luck

Thanks to ET I’m learning loads of new stuff too. I never realised that modern day Albania has its roots by the Caspian Sea.
But hey, finishing the game by 3 starring everything could keep me going at least as long as finally nailing Panama City did :-)

Just realized that we have now very hard nations instead of just hard.

Just realized that we have now very hard nations instead of just hard. Yes, I have noticed that too. They are both one-star nation but some is labelled 'Hard' while others 'Very Hard' (e.g. Cherusci, and probably this is why poor Arminius is riding a light cavalry ).

Yes, Cherusci has been my first choice and Arminius on light cavalry is not that great but he does still good damage and you can replenish him on every level 3 city with barracks =) Too bad that the country right from Cherusci is not playable..
