Kinda trash but useful in the first and second campaigns if you don’t have much other infantry generals. I recommend to throw him in the bin at campaign 3

I recommend to throw him in the bin at campaign 3 If you do this, you are just wasting gold as you only get 80% of his cost when you sell him. Just don't get him, as a person with a Straussenburg, I can say that he will be miles ahead of Beauregard. Best thing is, Straussenburg is kind of affordable early game with a bunch of easy conquests in 1865. Even if you go for cheaper options like Macmahon, they will be suited until maybe the middle of Campaign 3. Even Grant alone may be suitable, although gold is very easy to find.

I didn’t use him much anyway

I know I know but it’s irresistible to sell Beauregard btw i sold him then I sold Grant, rebought grant for 0 and upgraded him to M Gneeral also with Nikolaevich my Masurian lakes battle was nearly won i just need a better artillery général than Dimitriev or a better inf general

Lee is far more cost-effective than Straussenberg. You don't see many advocates for Lee as "your first general" because Straussenburg is nearly 150 medals cheaper. 635 is honestly not very much if you have not gotten anything. Straussenburg's skills can't have a medal right away and plus, Straussenburg has Infantry Commmander, useful after your 1865 Auto-Cuba. They both are god at some point, but Battle Array and (maybe) Tunnel can be swapped from Lee.

Just Battle Array needs to be swapped for either Terrain or Tactics master, because in practice, I really like tunnel. Beauregard is just a waste of gold.

I accidentally swapped my Straussenburg's Ambush for Infantry Expert, but I think I will swap Plain for Jungle/Ambush is I feel like Straussenburg dies too quickly. I just feel like Lee can be replaced by Straussenburg as they are both good, and Straussenburg is less expensive. But yes, Beauregard is trash.

Now that I think about him, he doesn't seem so bad. If you swap out Desert for Defense Tactic, he is Tamemoto. Not too Shabby for free. And despite claims that Tamemoto is worthless, he isn't. He's a good general, just a very, very bad IAP.
