Looks like a pretty good 2nd Cavalry general. He's a bit more on the expensive side and lacks a terrain skill but can still pack a punch especially when counter-attacking. Him, Jackson, and McClennan will bring terror and annihilation to any who oppose me!

Seems great. He reminds me of Blücher a bit.

After having more experience with him. He is still a great general and many statements from my previous review still remain. One positive side to Johnston is that his output doesn't depend on terrain meaning he is the most versatile of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. He's a mixture of Jackson and McClennan and is perfect synergy with other cavalry generals. 5/5

I will replace his counterattack with surprise and make him the most flexible cavarly general who is good in any situation

As good as Jackson if given Surprise Attack and Jungle Fighting.

Tbh I dont see much need for Johnston for early era players. Before skill change, we would most likely have gotten McClellan in the chaos, and now these generals would probably be in our cavalry list: Jackson, Moltke, McClellan and Plumer. 4 cavalry generals are really sufficient, and its even better if you decide to purchase IAP Ludendorff. Between Johnston and Plumer, I'd choose the one that can fare well for history mode (no confederate history mode, sadly) and still be as overwhelmingly competent as Jackson is

Please help me. I like to buy a new general. Should I buy Hipper or Johnston. I have David Beatty, in case of more Navy, I take Hindenburg and Robert Lee because they have high battle ability and Defence Formation. I use Plumer and Jackson as I main Cavalry. I stopped using McClellan because I got Plumer. I have Moltke too but I don't even touch him. Should I invest in Navy or Cavalry.

If you already completed all naval British challenges you don't need another Navy General urgently, because all remaining Naval challenges are incredibly easy and can be completed with Beatty and your land generals. There is only one instance when you may need another Navy General, namely if you plan to participate eventually in speed run conquests. Otherwise concentrate your efforts on land generals. But, of course, we still don't know what we should expect from the battle of Jutland...

Thank you. I am in Bulgarian campaign. I fully did campaign challenges of USA, Germany and Russia. I am doing Dual Monarchy challenge campaign because the rewards are amazing.

No problem In fact I think that we can eventually employ all worthy generals in EW 1914. So, it is all about perfect timing. I recall that I used Artillery extensively in the French and Italian challenges, so don't neglect it either. I would rather say that Artillery generals are more important in some challenges than Cavalry gens. Keep it in mind
