Use them on the respective units, and wait out the waves of attackers. They all come to you
And use your medals for Sulkowski or Golitsyn, Maria is too weak

This is how I managed to do it in two directions.
1) Move the line infantry and heavy arty from Vilnius to hide behind Kutuzov's large fortress. Move the guards and light cavalry from Minsk to defend the chokepoint between the two rivers. Let the fortress take the first waves of attack from Lefbvre & Ney. Wait for Kutuzov to fire back on the attackers injuring them in the process. Kutuzov is at 110/4 and 5 stars in fort, so he will be able to take at least two to three waves of attack. When the attackers are greatly weakened, used the line infantry and heavy arty to mop up them. Take care not to get flanked by Ney. Always use the line infantry to defend your heavy arty.
Use the light cavalry to get into flanking position (I do not use the light cavalry to attack but only to get into a flanking position to have the enemy morale drop effect) then use the heavy arty and Kutuzov's fort fire to maximum effect. You can also use the guards and line infantry to surround the enemy. Be patient, make full use of Kutuzov's fort fire. Always fight within the 2 hex radius of Kutuzov's fortress for support fire.
Once Lefbvre and Ney are gone, cross the bridge, ignore the level 2 fortress, take Plock, then make or park an arty on the farm to fire on Murat (he won't move, so just fire across the river). Yorck and Blucher might harass you, if that happens, build some cheap infantries to keep them occupied.
2) Move Sacken, heavy cavalry and light arty to hide behind the small fortress. Go south, kill the grenadier and light cavalry, avoid the firing radius of the large fortress, flank Dombrowski and kill him. Head straight west then up towards Krakow. Skip the large French fortress and Warsaw. Davout will chase you, kill him and marry up with your other army south of Plock.
I managed to get 5 stars by not killing the line infantry at Krakow but going straight for Murat. Flanking is key here.
Build up your higher level cities, stables then factories. If the enemy heads for your cities, build cheap line infantries to hold the three chokepoints, Ney's bridge, the hex behind the trench near Minsk and Kiev's bridge.
Put generals on heavy arty, guards, heavy cavalry, light arty and 3 rows line infantry at Vilnius if possible. This is a snatch and grab mission for the heads of the four generals.
Good luck and hope this helps someone in future.
