I remember I had a lot of trouble with this one too, I mostly forgot how I beat it. But I remembered I concentrated all my forces to march on land.

This one was the hardest in Discovery Age imo. I usually breeze through these stages but I got wrecked here. I had Caesar, Attila, Nobunaga, Li Shimin, and the rest of the normal generals that the game gives you and still had trouble.
I remember leaving Caesar behind at the start to clear out the enemies attacking your fort. I also used the ally general for that (the game let's you control him. Then they both eventually rejoin the main force. Everybody else just advances. Getting the north west fort is basically a suicide mission for Li. I just busted in there and destroyed it while he was surrounded and killed. The other objective is easier. After the fort is broken, just send everyone to the northern point of the island and send them across.
You have to really focus on capturing every infantry/cav/archer recruitment areas. Otherwise the AI spams them. So take it slow and try to capture as many in one turn as you can. I wouldn't worry too much about invaders from the sea. They didn't do anything in my game.
Oh I also had Saladin.

The enemies from sea are so dang hard to deal with, they keep arriving from that island, might just seize it and lower mexico and destroy what I assume to be tenochtitlan last. Also watching out for what I cannot see.

Those Tercio do not help either and Saladin or Genghis Khan cannot beat them easily.

Use your weakest general and the general they give you to protect your base, then take your army across the sea and attack the northeast base, once it is taken, go by sea (don't land) and attack the northwest castle from the sea.

To deal with those tercio I used income and archery princesses (Ayla and Anna), because range is good and tercios are not regular infantry. Regarding the campaign itself, it is indeed very hard. Try using the given Montezuma as much as much possible to heal your generals, and try upgrading Saladin to 4 stars ASAP, so that you can kill enemy units without loss. Against enemy generals first attack them with Nobunaga for debuffs, then attack them with regular units. I'd suggest getting Nobunaga to have at least lv 6 Leadership, which is the Best of his skills and also not that expansive to upgrade ( about 500 medals I think)
