As i haven't upgraded any tech (or hired a general) i thought of india as the country to play.
India seems perfect at first sight, a stable (though not perfect) economy which is far away from the real enemy.
I immediately 'conquered' the 2 british ports nearby with an infantry for the valuable recourses they provide me.
I started out with building 3 howitzers at start and than 1 medium tank reinforced once (so with 2 dots).
With these 3 artillery units, the general India starts with and the tank i went to the neutral Iran. I surrounded the city with my general and the tank while installing the howitzers on a 2-tile distance.
Than i declared war on Iran and immediately bombed out their city using the howitzers and finished it of with the melee units.
Afterwards i went to Teheran, surrounded it and captured it in order to defeat iran. Currently moving my units to repead the same nasty thing in Iraq, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. These countries are relatively easy to conquer as they are actually neutral, yet they provide me valuable recourses which i'll definitely need when i face the real enemy. Turkey also provides me a footstep into europe.
In the meantime Thailand was kicking my allies' butt in the east, i decided to move one cheap infantry to burma. My risky plan worked out, When Thailand destroyed the British at Burma, they didn't immediately occupy the city, meaning my infantry unit was able to move inside it. I'm currently kinda defending on this front untill i'm able to build a force on both fronts.
So far i haven't had any issues, but obviously i'm yet to face a real enemy which means i'm currently unsure whether i'm able to finish the conquest or not.
However i think the main tactic for India, sniping neutrals for recourses, seems right to me.
