I’ve done 1950 conquests with France, Spain and South Korea. Don’t bother with South Korea unless you have max tech and all star generals. I did it in 43 turns, but only because I’ve got everything maxed out.
I found Spain to be pretty solid. France has to weather a tough attack from China early in Vietnam but gets a little time to build an army in Europe before Soviet tanks come sweeping through Germany. I am guessing Britain has a similar feel to it. Africa gets virtually ignored.
The reason I think Spain felt a bit easier is that you get a little more time to build your forces before the Soviets arrive at the doorstep, and you don’t have to defend territory in the east. Of course, you also have to march all the way across Asia.
One thing to remember is that because Germany is neutral and you start out on the defense, you will likely be fighting without forward bases for reinforcements for a while after you shift to the attack. You have to let the Soviets come to you because if you try to rush at them, they will overwhelm you before you can get enough firepower out to reinforce your starting units and the one or two generals you send off in the first few turns. You are better served to save up and build at least a couple of stacked heavy tanks and a couple of stacked rocket artillery for generals so you can put a lot of firepower on the wave of tanks headed for you. Poland also sends a lot of commandos at you, but tank generals absolutely annihilate infantry, even commandos. The massed heavy and stacked medium tanks are the real threat. I like using at least two rocket artillery generals for their splash damage. It really helps to thin out the enemy armor in combination with a couple of tank generals. Spain and France have similar strategies in Europe. Spain gets a couple more turns to build its forces, but you don’t want to wait until France is conquered to jump in the ring. I tried to get my forces out to help defend France as the Soviets arrived. The challenge for Spain is that it is a long way from your cities to the first enemy city you can conquer, so you need to plan ahead for reinforcements including some infantry to help you occupy cities. It may be a while before you have a base from which you can paradrop on enemy cities.
In the East, I went ahead and assigned two tank generals to help defend French Vietnam against the Chinese. You have to be a little sneaky to get access to a level three factory early. The British will attack Bangkok hard early. Keep a couple of infantry units in range so you can snipe it when they have almost broken the defenses. You need that factory so you can build heavy tanks for a couple of generals or else China will overwhelm you. The first tank general you build will take quite a beating defending Hanoi. You’ll want to build a Field Hospital and withdraw him to Bangkok as you get your second tank general up to reinforce him. You should be able to recover enough health in Bangkok (more than 30 per turn with Field Hospital) that when you have defeated the initial attack wave, you can build an artillery general or a third tank general and then start attacking with all three. It is also wise to use Dönitz in the East because China will send a bunch of cruisers to pound you in Hanoi. If you put Dönitz in a cruiser, he can also get Rumor hits on Chinese generals along the coast.
That’s the best I can think of for now. Let me know how it goes.

I think I remember someone else saying NATO also sends swarms of tanks at you. But obviously it should take a while for American tanks to hit Europe.

This thread inspired me to try a Soviet 1950 Conquest. I haven’t finished yet, but I’ve gotten through the early game and have a good idea of how it plays.
As the Soviets you start out with a pretty decent army in Europe. You’ve got Rokossovsky in a super tank, Momev and Zhukov in super rocket artillery and several double stacked heavy tanks you can immediately place generals into. I also used my second artillery general in a double stacked rocket artillery you start out with. You also have a stacked cruiser in the Baltic that you can put Dönitz into.
It’s tempting to rush straight at Netherlands, Belgium and France, but I reisisted that urge. Sweden, Denmark and Norway in the north were my first targets. They will harass you from the Baltic otherwise. France waits for a while to build up its forces and will let you take Denmark and the other Scandanvian states without interfearance. A couple of the heavy tanks younstsrt with are in the South, so I put Rommel in one and Patton in the other. Used them to take out Turkey and Greece and then head to Africa. Africa gets pretty well ignored early on. No generals there in the early game. I actually forgot I had a couple of cities there for the first few turns, but it didn’t matter much. You do have more of Africa to take over, so sending to two tank generals feels right, though Inwould not send your top guys there.
I built Manstein (using him as top tank general) a super tank in Moscow in Turn 2 and put Guderian in one of the double stacked heavy tanks you start with. I let Guderian and all the artillery guys you start with go after Denmark and sent starting version of Rokossovsky from Moscow straight to the Baltic Sea to take Sweden and Norway. Built a super rocket in Moscow for Konev in Turn 3, as you get a ton of income to start with. By the time they got down towards Denmark, Guderian and the artillery guys had taken Copenhagen. I turned them all towards Western Europe, quickly took out Netherlands and am about to take Belgium out. France sent its army at me right as I turned towards Amsterdam and Brussels, but they are no match for a top tank general in a super tank, let alone all that supporting artillery. Spain is sending some units at me, but they won’t get there until I’m about ready to take Paris. The U.S. has massed some units on its east coast but hasn’t started to cross the Atlantic much yet.
In the East, you get Bagramyan in a double stacked heavy tank to start. I built a triple stacked heavy tank in Khabarovsk pretty early to help spearhead an invasion of the Japanese mainland with Bagramyan. You also get Kuznetsov in a stacked cruiser at the start. I used him to clear the way for my tank generals to land south of Sapporo. I was able to paradrop on that city between Sapporo and Tokyo (Sendai maybe?, it’s not named in the map). I took Sapporo quickly and built a bunch of subs to clear out Japanese Navy on the northern coast with Kuznetsov. Sent Rokossovsky south to take Tokyo with the help of a couple nukes. Left Bagramyan and some artillery near Sapporo along with subs and Kuznetsov because the Americans and Canadians are trying to invade from the sea. They are going to be obliterated by my massed subs and will never land in Japan.
The Chinese go after Taipei and Seoul very hard, with help from North Korea. Takes them way too long to take those two cities out, but you can’t do much aboout it because they clog all the tiles in attack range within a couple of turns, before you can get there. I’ve taken Tokyo and dropped on a couple of other cities. Yokohama and a couple of ports are all that remains of Japan. Unfortunately, China does a terrible job attacking the French and British in Southeast Asia and you don’t have many units close enough to help. I sent some infantry and a stacked medium tank you start out with in the Eastern Soviet cities that way and was able to take Hanoi with help from China, but Thailand fell before I could do anything about it. I think I can hold Hanoi indefinitely by building stacked medium tanks. I will probably avoid sending any generals that way and just use missiles and regular units to take everything in Southeast Asia all the way to Australia. Rokossovsky will probably serve me better leading an invasion of the U.S. and Canada from the Pacific. I expect my European generals will cross the Atlantic and take the East Coast while Rokossovsky takes the West Coast, and they will meet somewhere in the middle.
I highly suggest building the Technology Center in Moscow on Turn 1. It starts with a level 4 tech institute, somit gives you the Tech Center gives you 14 bonus tech per turn. You start with good missile bases capable of hitting most everything in Europe and mainland Japan, but you will want your tech to reach Level 7 so you can build new missile bases to help you in Southeast Asia and Australia and to support your invasion of North America. I built a few new tech institutes with extra resources I had lying around at the end of turns, but I’ve mostly relied on the 28 tech let Turn from Moscow and the tech from cities I conquered to get me there. I’m at tech Level 6 and should reach 7 soon enough for my plans to work out.

I’m curious to play with China. I’m betting you will have to send quite an army west to help the Soviets in Europe, but it should be pretty simple to take Southeast Asia and Japan before invading North America.

Something else to keep in mind for Warsaw Pact nations is speed. The requirement to invade North America is going to mean NATO conquests are generally faster.

Finished in 32 turns. Missiles and air make taking North America much easier, especially if you stockpile nukes, which I did.

Before I start I hoped for some tips and trics.. what conquest should i start and what are inportant countries/enemies/cities/generals to taken in account when playin it Thnx Imo the best idea to farm in 1950 is Canada. It will not be the fastest in 1950 but definetely the easiest. You don't need high techs or maxed generals. However 1 or 2 air capable generals will make Your life much easier. You have one double destroyer on Your eastern coast. I used it to steal port in Ireland to build cheap subs to prevent invasion to British Isles. You start with 3 good cities to put the landmarks from the very start. Money for Ottawa, industry for Toronto and science for Vancouver. Moreover You have tripple artillery from the start and several generals. Build 1 tripple heavy tank with general to support the advance. Send some units to steal Japan cities (chinise fleet and Soviet forces will destroy the fortifications). With some japanise cities and the money You've saved while approaching Soviets and China You are rich enough to take the base on the mainland. Send all Your other forces including cruiser to take Soviet Kamchatka region. This is Your base to take Khabarovsk and all the China. With 3 nuclear facilities (Khabarovsk, Chanchung and Shenyang) everything is easy. Soviet cities are unguarded and mainly vulnerable to airstrikes. Save nukes and use it as soon as You approach European territory (Soviet) to take empty cities faster. That will make Your economy huge and You will be able to use strategic bombings and missiles to retake the territory of the allies. France conquest is somewhat 10 turns faster for me, but You need strong tank and atrillery generals for that. Moreover France is a 3 star country so the reward (science particularly) is less attractive.

I’m betting you will have to send quite an army west to help the Soviets in Europe, but it should be pretty simple to take Southeast Asia and Japan before invading North America. Play as true China (ROC) and recap the mainland lol. Not easy but it can be done. Once you finish of the cream of PRC you can easily liberate surrounding cities. The hard part is getting a secure hold on the coast. Interested to see if anyone has pictures or has completed this.

I was able to use the USA for my three star Japan for my two star and South Korea for my one star. USA is easy to farm early on. Japan take a quick korean war intervention followed by HEAVY naval support(the naval support by sub comes first to destroy chinese marines and navy)also interesting but South Korea takes a alot of patience. As South Korea you need to paratroop into PRC cites and cap Taiwan. Then use Heavy tanks w generals to push into manchuria and cap peking while fighting off the mongol raids every turn. After you secure the coast finish the rest of china and capitulate Mongolia (SUPER important). Then youll be in good shape to support Burma (optional) and push into the USSR. Three quarters through the USSR take out the middle east and the balkans. After you cap everything to warsaw choose where to go next Africa or France. Then your pretty much good.

I started Spain but not sure if I can do it due to the high amount of enemy Maybe try Japan? That is if you want to get an easy two star conquest.
