When you are close enough to Mountbatten, he leaves port and that is your chance. Destroy the submarine in the port, destroy cruiser (near Dowding) and via this route occupy the port. Don't even attack Mountbatten

Therefore you have to block the path with your own ships. Timing is very important. Hexes with "ing" (on the screenshot) have to be ocupied with your generals (one of them Nagumo). Idealy the hex near Mountbatten and cruiser as well. Don't attack anything else after reaching this position except cruiser and submarine in the port... Your ships behind your generals will serve as decoy for Mountbatten and other enemy units. AI can't move submarine (and build another one) because the way is blocked...

Super units- should be battleship on this map? I have forgotten cruisers stacked destroy fortification on downling city. carriers maxed for enemy submarines first then / artillery units includes downling Rest would be stacked subs

I used two BBs and three normal Carriers. My tech was probably maxed pacific in navy. The most important stat is mobility where your BBs can move three paces.
I placed dowding on the normal Carrier and the three of them kept bombing Mountbatten. The Two BBs kill the SPart in the north, then move on to battle the BB and submarine. The BBs should clear a way towards Mountbatten, but do not charge in. Keep yourself three paces away from the port and keep bombing the port with Carriers. When Mountbatten is two rounds away from dying, push your BBs in. The timing of your attack should kill him without the port making reinforcements, or massing navy to block your path.

I did this with quite straightforward strategy (my next navy upgrade costs 85 000 gold and I used not upgraded Nimitz + Rommel): I just attacked battleship and submarine in the top, take care to move your ship as closer to enemy gen as possible after you kill unit (if you fail to do it, battle is lost), which blocks the way. After you kill battleship and submarine you can stand close to gen and just shoot him. Take care to take away your units before they die so enemies don't occupy hexes where you stand (if they do it, battle is lost). I finished on 14th turn with quite notable army left. I used 3 super battleships and 3 double cruisers, gens in battleships.

But 2 navy generals (donitz a bit rumour upgrade) and nimitz no upgrade. Didnt loose a ship
