for more tutorials: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/728/tutorials in the game, you got 3 eye-covered generals. you can upgrade those generals towards strong generals. but this will cost you a lot of medals, much more than buying generals in accedemies, so my advice is NOT UPGRADING THOSE GENERALS. however, if you want to upgrade them, here are the basics. i'm going to answerr the following questions: 1. how to upgrade your eye-covered generals? 2. which skills are smart to add? 3. the perfect generals How to upgrade your eye-covered generals?1. go to "millitary carreer" 2. go to the "missions" tab 3. click on one of those green things 4. Go to the "tutorial" tab 5. choose the skill you like to add/upgrade for your generals 6. click on the green thing in the bottom 7. choose the general you like to add the skill to 8. in the left box with text you see the skill before the upgrading 9. in the right box with text you see the skill after upgrading 10. in the red circle you see the amount of medals needed for that upgrade 11. if you agree with this, you can click on the red bottom with the book on it 12. the skill is add/upgraded Which skill is smart to add? I want to refer to this awesome thread made by Erich von Manstein european-war-4.boards.net/thread/723/skill-analyze

Great recap Netherfreek.Just wanted to add that imo building your own general should only be done by players with a fairly large amount of medals and also only an artillery commander would be worth building because every other branch of wc3 military has excellent generals already that can be recruited from the academies. The artillery field is limited by mobility usually.

Advice: xx Leader army can be taken, use Plain Fighting(as I said, plains almost everywhere) instead. Fleet Leader can be changed to the Surviving skills, like Defense Tactic(if lucky) or Ace Forces(if not), if against alien, then get rid of Wolfpack, and get both.
The Anti-Armor skill on artillery commander is against human unit only. If is is for against alien, it will be better to have Ace Forces(strongly recommended for your first artillery commander!)/Street Fighting(can be on second one, crazy high output in cities).
Guerrilla can be changed to Plain Fighting optionally, but Explosive should be on all the generals.
My thinking of air general: Explosive: break into cities. Bayonet Charge&Raider: best to make infantry-air one, so some infantry skills are required. Supply: do I need to explain? The last skill can be: Plain Fighting(high output, and it can be an infantry general also)/Shelter Expert(need to be careful about missiles more than artilleries). I personally will choose plain fighting though.
Anyway, but strongly recommended for the first commander to ba an ARTILLERY one! But I'm personally not recommend for infantry, navy and air ones.

Does it matter what order you place the 5 skills? I grabbed plain fighting first, but I noticed its the last skill on a lot of toons.

Well if it affects performance, is there a specific order in which you should buy the 5 skills"? I hope I did not mess up this toon and have to re-do it.

I don't believe performance is greatly affected, just a few points of dmg. You will still get all 5 skills, the process does not differ all that much. Some players might prefer firepower over survivability & choose PF first, some may like to avoid dmg & choose Blitzkreig, etc. It depends on your use, if you like dmg over survivability then go ahead. This is the only performance "affected" so don't worry too much.

I used the order in Mansteins tutorial"
Now start to build the first stage of eye covered artillery general with 3 star artillery&movement, M General, lvl 3 Plain Fighting, lvl 2 Artillery Barrage&Explosive. Say goodbye to Ozawa, and buy Yamamoto (Japan). You can promote Guderian and Govorov to Marshal and let Badoglio retire. If you did buy Bai C.X. or Badoglio, please buy Vasilevsky (Soviet Union) as an infantry general.

If the order in which you place your 5 skills is important, or affects the outcome, it would be nice to have that information in the tutorial.
I did 3 star Artillary, then 3 star movement, 3 star plain fighting, followed by Artillary Barrage, then Explosive, Undecide on which two skills to get in the 4th and 5th spot.

I need to know if the order of skills affects unit performance. I went plain, barrage, explosive. Have halted all progress on this EC at this time.

No, the order is not necessary. Though I'd recommend to upgrade all 5 skills evenly. Because for the price of upgrading barrage from 2 to 3 you could upgrade supply from 0 to 1 and street 0 to 2.

So Max
The order I choose the 5 skills doesnt affect performance?
I got worried and thought I might have to wipe and start the EC all over because I noticed most Generals and the ones we buy have Barrage first then explosives and plain fighting last.
I bought plain first and wondered if I needed to put barrage first and Explosive second.
