Welcome to my first guide ever on EFC, Mongolia 1943 (but don't clap, or you will slightly inflate my ego, which could prove disastrous).
NOTE: I played this with good tech and great generals. If you lack one or both of these, this conquest is probably not for you. That said, let's get started with resurrecting the Mongolian Empire.
Generals:
Rokossovsky
Konev
Rommel
Govorov
Guderian
Others for mopping up later in the conquest (optional)
At the beginning, you're given two medium tanks and another infantry or two. Place Rokossovsky and Rommel on each of them, and send your units east to Changchun and Shenyang. Some Japanese infantry generals will come after you, but engage them as little as you have to until Changchun and Shenyang fall. When your resources allow, spawn a triple howitzer and place Konev on it, then move him in to mop up what's left of the infantry generals in Manchuria. By turn 7-10, your situation should look something like this:
After Manchuria is yours, split your forces: Send one tank general and Konev down the Korean peninsula and later on to Japan, and the other tank down to Beijing. You need to gain either Beijing or Nanking to improve your resources, so you may consider restarting if you lose both of them to allies. Spam motorized infantries in Korea to aid the takeover of Japan and leave a unit on each Chinese city you take when possible. By about turn 15 or so, this is roughly what you should have:
Next, make landfall on the Japanese Islands if you haven't already and spam medium tanks from Nagasaki to aid in the push onward. In China, keep pushing south, taking Taipei and Shanghai if possible. Start spamming motorized infantry to accompany your tank general if you haven't already, and try to reach Southeast Asia before turn 20. When you get there, build another triple howitzer and place Govorov on it to help with the conquest of Southeast Asia. Here is the outlook by turn 22 or so:
Hurry and finish the conquest of Japan, and start using your air power when you can to snag empty enemy cities, and try to keep cities out of the hands of the North Americans. Start pushing into Thailand and occupied Indochina and Indonesia, and avoid the forts as much as you can. Australia may or may not be of any help, and Britain probably won't help, so you'll have to take the majority of the burden on yourself. Whenever you take a port, just leave a single sub to guard it; your money is needed elsewhere. By the mid-30s, Japan should fall (it will have to be roughly this quick, or you will suffer in the next phase):
Unfortunately, you can't even think about taking a breather now that Japan and Thailand are gone. If you have sucky allies (and you probably will, it's an Easytech game), the European fascists will have blazed through Britain and the Soviet Union and will be approaching your homeland by now. So around turn 25 or so, make a triple heavy tank in Beijing and place Guderian on it, and send it west to engage the Axis forces. Spawn as many medium tanks as you can from Uliastai to help Guderian out. Move all your forces on the Japanese islands back to the mainland to engage the Axis forces as well. In Southeast Asia, send Govorov and other units in Southeast Asia to India to guard against the forces coming from Egypt (it is not necessary to steal a city there, but it will help in the coming phase). Send about three subs east to the Atlantic to help prevent any Axis country from taking a port in the Americas and holding your entire Game up by several rounds. By about turn 40, this should be you:
Here is where you may want to use other generals to aid in the pushback against the Axis forces. It is possible to complete the conquest without them, but your score may suffer. (I had Manstein and Zhukov, but any alternatives you have could also suffice.) You won't be able to launch a great offensive yet, so play defensively for a while, taking Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg to gain industry to spawn more tanks. Spawn as many medium (and heavy when you get the ability) tanks as you can, but save a little money to start mass upgrading your tech production; it will be crucial in finishing this conquest in enough time for an S rank. In India, after eliminating the oncoming forces, push onward to Damascus. This will be hard to do, with spammed units coming from Egypt, but send some paratroopers in to bolster your forces as you push onward, and set up defenses as soon as you take Damascus.
As soon as you destroy the main clusters of enemies in Europe and take the westernmost Soviet cities, you have reached the high point of the conquest; it should go downhill from here. Keep spamming heavy tanks to take Europe, and build missile silos as soon as you reach the tech level; missile spam will be needed greatly for speed here. You will still be stuck in Damascus, so keep playing defensively; send some heavy tanks from southern Europe to aid the forces there when the Balkans is yours. Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary should all fall in the late-50s, and the longer you play, the faster you should gain land. As soon as Europe falls, blitz through Africa quickly; it should only take a few turns with your strong economy. Here is the progression I made for comparison:
Turn 51:
Turn 61:
Turn 71:
Turn 75:
If you followed everything listed here (or closely enough, anyway), you can finish Mongolia in less than 80 turns and gain that coveted S rank. And this has been How to Resurrect the World's Largest Empire 101.
Other things:
Do not declare war on neutrals. You do not need them for their economy, as you will have plenty of opportunities elsewhere, and they're more trouble than they're worth.
The Ion Cannon doesn't really come into play here. It may help you with some units or cities, but don't plan to have to use it for anything important. The same logic applies for nukes (unless you really really dislike a certain city).
