Today, I will show how to complete possibly the most frustrating conquest in any WC game, Poland 1939. Everyone who has tried it has failed miserably at least once, but it is not quite as hard as you believe.
NOTE: I played this with excellent generals and advanced technology. If you lack one or both of these, don't even try this.
Generals Used:
Manstein
Guderian
Rommel
Rokossovsky
Konev
Govorov
Rumor skill highly recommended
When you begin the conquest, the situation is not good for Poland:
With one poor general, low-level tech, and a mediocre economy, Poland is practically asking to be conquered by the powerful Germans. You'll have to play defensively for several turns; the entire game is determined by the first 10 or so turns, so don't screw it up. Place Rokossovsky on the light tank near Krakow, Rommel on the light tank near Guderian, and your Guderian on the third tank. Send Guderian, Rommel, Smigly, and most of the infantries west to defend against the heavy tanks and artilleries coming at you. DO NOT attempt to attack a heavy tank general without flanking him first, and it is recommended to have generals with Rumor to help disable opponents easier. On turn 2, spawn a double howitzer in Warsaw and place Konev on it, then send him west as well. In the south, defend the best you can against Dumitrescu, Horthy, other German generals, and all the other units trying to seize Krakow. When Krakow is surrounded and on the verge of falling, spawn another light tank and place Manstein on it. With Rokossovsky and other units from Krakow, use him to clear out the units coming at you and start to beat a path south to Budapest and the nameless Romanian city. While it's acceptable for a general or two to die in this stage, do NOT lose more generals, or you will have to starr over. By turn 4 or so, the situation will not have changed much, minus some generals on both sides:
With the majority of the generals in the first wave dead, now is the time to expand. Eliminate Greim and lay siege to Berlin. (Do NOT allow the Soviets to take Berlin or any other German city besides Konigsberg.) When Berlin is yours, spawn a single or double howitzer and place Govorov on it to replace Konev, who you will send south to assist in taking southern Germany and the Balkans; move to Hamburg and Cologne next. In the south, kill Hungary and lay siege to Bucharest. Start to spawn tanks as you need to seize objectives, and use Konev and another tank general to attack the cities with the German generals. By now, your allies should have shown up in Benelux and started to attack the western European Germans, so allow them to do a lot of the heavy lifting against the German generals left there. By turn 14 or so, you should be over the roughest part of the conquest; if you still have a lot of generals coming at you to kill or you still haven't expanded very far, you may need to restart.
Keep expanding west and south. Seize the rest of Germany, occupied France, and Romania. When the rest of the Balkans falls, send Konev and a few other units east to find a city to take from Japanese forces (I took New Delhi, but any other should work equally well), which should be demolishing China, and send all other Balkan troops to Italy to help out there. Your economy should be doing fine by now, so use it to your full advantage. Remember, it is never a sin to steal a city from an ally if it is empty and you want it. Don't forget to start upgrading your technology institutes, as missile tech will be highly needed later on for speed against Japan and Africa. After seizing the rest of Europe, blitz through Spain; if you're quick enough, you can have all of Europe in Allied hands by turn 30:
Next, speed through Africa; this should only take a few turns with your powerhouse economy and technology. If you don't have or nearly have level 6 technology by now, get to upgrading now. After Africa falls and Spain and Italy are finally defeated, the only task left is to defeat Japan. From New Delhi or whichever city you stole from the Japanese, start bombing and paraspamming as much as you can across China and Thailand. When you get missiles, start using those heavily against targets as well. You will probably have to go to America to capture a port or two, but all other targets should easily be reachable from cities you possess, and your allies will help you by taking a few ports. When all is said and done, it is possible to finish in less than 50 turns and gain them at coveted S rank. HUSARIA STRONK!
