Is buying Philipp a good idea?

Is buying Philipp a good idea? I don't think so. One of his skills is useless, he has neither aura nor terrain bonuses and he is quite expensive.

Paget is better, but even he is no recommended. I would save up for Davout or Murat, or just cash out and buy Greene who is 895 medals. He is actually better than Phillip believe it or not.

I don't think so. One of his skills is useless, he has neither aura nor terrain bonuses and he is quite expensive. But he does have lv3 tactic master Tactics master is good when your general is strong enough, otherwise it will be a disaster. I'm absolutely convinced that the best pair of cavalry generals in the game (Blucher aside) is Murat+Dabrowski. Yes, Dabrowski is only a duke, but with a medal his aura could be upgraded to lvl 5 and that makes him an excellent companion for Murat. Some other players think that Tactics master is a great skill, but my personal opinion is that it can't beat Plain fighting. This pair of generals (Murat plus Dabrowsi) is so powerful that I completed with 3 stars Battle of Vitoria (last mission in "Spanish war") and Battle of Waterloo (last mission in "100 days' war") without significant upgrades of my cavalry generals.

Nice. I’ll replay the game, and use Blucher + Murat and see what happens, as opposed to blucher + davout. Both plain fighting and tactics master are great skills, but also can be quite terrible if the general’s other skills are weak. For example, think about the legendary Emmanuel IV of the sardinian conquest. He has both a terrain bonus and tactics master but he is still kind of weak. Still I would much rather use him instead of Gates any day of the weak.

I'm now saving up for Scharnhorst because I can't save up for those generals you mentioned. Is this a good idea?

Keep farming until you have enough for them. This isn’t EW4 where conquests take like hours to complete. Plus we have Netherlands 1798, which enables a quick 20 minute conquest with a guaranteed 50 medal 19000 gold 2 silver medal reward

Scharnhorst isn’t bad. He has fantastic skills. I would honestly get Alexander I though. As he has an aura buff skill. Its basically the equivalent of having two salvo skills plus a terrain bonus. He is pretty good. If you need medals, just grind out conquests.

Looks good, but not a good buy. At least they included him. I really wanted a easytech game with Phillipp in it.

Its what makes the difference between a good artillery general and a great one. Plus Ludwig and Jourdan are better than him.

I would honestly just buy the ambulance for jourdan and start grinding for medals.
