I can not pass this mission in roman unification company, who knows the tactics? Defend Sardinia and Sicily. Once all threats are gone your Sicilian troops will invade Naples and Rome. You also have to watch out the French and Italian reinforcements

This is how I won with 2*, 3 Military School gens (Mahmud II, Davout and Massena) and 3 free gens (didn't deploy Clinton). Leave the Sardinian frigate to hold the port while your troops on the island sail to attack Corsica. This ensures that the French cannot spawn inf to threaten Caligari. Then, sail these troops to the mainland. Sail your Sicilian troops to help your allies in the northernmost tip of the Appenine Peninsula, destroying the French and taking Rome in the process. Afterwards, march southward to take out Naples and the nameless city. To protect Sicily, spawn a frigate and some light arty when needed. Built a fort on the east coast to block Italian reinforcements. Note: The Neapolitan Ship of the Line can directly occupy your port in Sicily. Vióla, a less bloody victory compared to invading the mainland via the south. A method which also delays the triggering of enemy reinforcements (I feel that the reinforcements are scripted to be triggered by player success).

I also found the trick to be grabbing corsica and then invading milan as quickly as possible. This will allow you to damage Napoleon III quite heavily, as he is distracted attacking the city itself rather than your troops.
