Here is an alternative way of how to play Sardinia 1815.
Operation Foothold
Commander! We have just embarked on a war of unfication over the Italian Peninsula. Our only allies in the Mediterranean are the Spanish, Austrians and Egyptians. Despite our disadvantage, our troops and our large navy will surely be able to vanquish all who oppose the Sardinian unification of Italy.
So the conquest begins exactly like usual, take out Algeria for some more cash flow. Keep your land armies there, but send your navy back to Sardinia. They will be needed there.
Operation Sardinian Great White
Commander! Our operation in Algeria went remarkably well, and has provided us with extra revenue to fight. Now we must neutralize the Mediterranean by eliminating the large enemy fleet.
This is the part of the conquest that differs greatly from the usual method. Make troops to take Corsica and then send your naval vessels north towards Toulon. One of the frigates will most likely move toward Sardinia, leaving only one hefty battleship to destroy. Attack the battleship with your frigate and battleship, and then send in your privateer to capture the port. After taking Toulon, send your troops at Corsica towards Toulon and Marseilles. Use your ships to bombard Marseilles and then send in your troops once the city has been neutralized. By this point, the French will have driven far into Spain, so send your navy towards Iberia to capture any French ports there and once all ports have been taken, just bombard the French troops there to weaken them.
Operation Enforce Gauls Fate
From Marseilles, push on through France and Northern Italy. The ultimate goal is Paris. There are no main objectives, but I recommend taking Clermont so that you have a city right near Paris.
Operation New Roman Empire
Commander! The time has come to finally unify the peoples of the Italian Peninsula under the flag of Sardinia-Piedmont. Taking Rome shall be the first step to recreating the Roman Empire.
Produce troops in Sardinia and Corsica and send them to take Rome. Once Rome has fallen, move north to take Florence and mainly south to take over Naples. Also produce some troops to take Sicily.
From here, you'll just need to take out the Ottomans and N.Africans. Quite easy, so get conquering!
Advantages to the Marseilles Method compared to the Typical Method:
-Defeats France much earlier in the game, preventing the French some getting too powerful.
-Destroys the French Navy which means that the French Navy won't be bombard your troops.
-More room to maneuver in France then the Italian Peninsula.
Disadvantages:
-You will virtually require a decent Naval General
