Is it just me, or does EasyTech seem to hate the Americans in this game? I would say the Americans have the least fleshed out generals overall (no Marshall, Abrams, or Cates?), and also have the worst skill sets of all the generals in the game. Do you think this was a design choice, or if they were trying to give the Americans a sort of theme, based on “support” skills and unintentionally made them suck?
Either way, it makes me sad to see Patton and MacArthur evaporate in front of even the cheesiest of enemy generals.

Macarthur is pretty strong, as an infantry general or as a hybrid. Eisenhower is ok. As for patton, bradley, and fletcher, they are just bad generals. Halsey is also a popular navy choice. I don’t think they are necessarily hated.

I can see what you mean with Nimitz and Arnold, I just don't see why there is not a good army general in the game. MacArthur is second to mannerheim, runstedt, vasilievsky, and yamashita, and is functionally equal to people like zhu D, the guy from bronze tier.
Sure he gets 6 movement stars, but if he is only good on infantry (which has the highest mobility anyways), then is he *really* that special?

Sure he gets 6 movement stars, but if he is only good on infantry (which has the highest mobility anyways), then is he *really* that special? Macarthur: Urban warfare + camoflauge + plain fighting + rumor + infantry leader + legion medal = good hybrid Urban warfare + infantry leader + camoflauge + raider + rumor/guerilla/cover/plain = good infantry general. Yamashita, arguably the best infantry general starts with meh skills, except for raider. Macarthur’s abilities are more useful in my opinion and worth the extra 100 medals. Bayonet charge is arguably less useful than urban fighting i’d argue. Plus 15>10. Camoflauge is quite nice for attacking artillery units. Ace forces is ok, but not a desirable skill. Hence, yamashita will only be a good infantry general but a lousy hybrid. Now let’s take a look at rundstendt. Rundstendt hybrid: Urban Warfare + Plain Warfare + Rumor As you can see, he will lack Macarthur’s camoflauge, which if upgraded will yield a -30% damage buff when attacking artillery. It isn’t a massive loss, but it is noticeable. In addition, Rundstendt loses macarthur’s speed. Finally, infantry leader is a much better skill than guerilla, giving macarthur another edge. Runstendt infantry: Guerilla + Urban + Raider + Infantry leader He will lack Macarthur’s rumor, camoflauge, and his speed once again. Finally, Macarthur vs Mannerheim Mannherheim infantry: Jungle + Raider + Infantry leader, Firstly, he will lose Macarthur’s hybrid potential. Secondly, Macarthur can have a maximum boost of + 75 damage from his terrain bonus, whereas mannerheim’s will only be 37.5. Further more, Macarthur will have rumor on him. In macarthur’s defense, he is a very cheap choice for both an infantry general, and a terrain fighter, but Sun Lr on a super tank is stronger than Mannerheim on a hungarian commando. In conclusion, I do feel as tho macarthur is a good choice. But Rundstendt is also not a bad one, if you are willing to sacrifice some of macarthur’s features for him.

I see what you mean, I would only ever use MacArthur as an infantry general, as I would all of the others as infantry generals. I also use only their base skills in comparison as to "what could be", just because you will have to spend time with them un-upgraded, and in order to get MacArthur to compete with all of the 6 star infantry generals you really need to get those high level skills, which takes a lot of medals.
I can see how he is very attractive by your metric, I guess the real answer lies in whether or not you see the ends as justifying the means

He is very expensive, but if you can build him he will be very useful. If you want a cheap infantry general, I guess that Mannerheim would fit the category better, as you can immediately stick two medals on him. As for the rest of the americans, i think your main problem is the fact that Patton sucks. I don’t think Easytech hates him, as he was quite good in the last games. I think they just made him bad on accident. As for bradley, that’s another story.

If I was to do an all american replay of wc4 (shoot, I actually might this sounds great).
Artillery - Halsey (give rumor to), Bradley (give mf + artillery skills medal to)
Tanks - Arnold (give blitzkrieg + medal, that way he will both a meatshield and the rumor blitzkrieg general). Macarthur (pf + medal, armored assualt + medal), Patton (give jf + meral, panzer leader + medal).
Infantry - kind of macarthur, kind of nimitz
Navy - Nimitz (give explosives and rumor to), Halsey (rumor), and Fletcher
Air Craft Carrier Generals - Nimitz, Arnold, Halsey, Fletcher
