I was just thinking about heihachiro. No1 seems to use him and i have somewhere seen that people say hes weak. Will he be a good 2nd art gen or even solo? He has commander skill navigation and defense master. Commsnder skill for art gens isnok i assume navigation is ok too cuz he has 2-3 range and defense master is just too expensive to upgrade. He gets destroy at lvl 6(enemy cant counterattack) which is great skill for art gen. So what do u think is he a good gen or not

Well, if you have IAP, then you have Napoleon, if you don't, then you have Li Shimin. Heihachiro is not available until Gunpowder, and at that time you already must have one veteran artillerist (even if it is Bismarck/Cleopatra).
In Gunpowder and Industrial you will need second artillerist, but generally Bismarck/Cleopatra should be enough (in addition of Napoleon/Li). In my current progress I have only Bismarck and Cleopatra and so far so good (175 cities, Gunpowder age done, waiting for literature for Industrial).
About commander skill - on my finished windows game I decided to try all generals, so I fully upgraded Khalid and tried to use him in Choice of the Age (Heihachiro's campaign), together with Bismarck and Li Shimin.
Main problem - Khalid is too weak and is really difficult to charge his skill. When triggered, the 50% bonus for other artillerists is quite decent, but not as gamechanging as for archery/cavalry. Granted, Heihachiro will definitely be stronger than Khalid, but his bonus will be the same.
And IMHO Heihachiro is quite expensive. 3500 medals is a lot, Navigation skill is mostly useless (there are only few naval battles), and Defense Master gets you +80 bonus, but for ~5500 medals. Bismarck is free and you even don't need to upgrade him to level 6 - he will lost his destroy ability and won't be much stronger. For the same amount of medals, better upgrade his Explosive Master for 175% and buy Axe of Titan for him. You can also slowly upgrade his General skill (max +360 HPs).

However, if you do want another artillery general other than bismarck, he would be a solid pick as he has no retaliation, and has good stats. Defense master, while not good for any other unit, imo is very good for artillery as its main job is a meatshield. Heihachiro is the best general in the game who can’t be counterattacked at lvl 6 (only napoleon is better). Just keep in mind that he, unlike li shimin, can’t heal. |
