Hi, I want to play France 1812 just for fun. I'm kind of stuck right now though, basically my strategy is to dely Austria once, get Ney, Davout, and Murat (I have Murat with lvl 4 Calvary Commander) right next to Venice. I take the capitol and then steam roll the Austrians. It's pretty easy, and the polish seem to hold out with at least Warsaw, but Spain is the real issue. I've tried doing everything. Marching straight to Madrid, killing all the gens and then going (all my gens are dead then), even sending Napoleon and his troop to Spain... I really need help with this so...
Generals: Murat, everything unupgraded except Cavalry commander lvl 4. Massena, everything unupgraded except infantry leader lvl 3. I have all the "free" generals (starter generals) and they are all unupgraded. My tech is Russian campaign level. I have 300 medals right now, so I am wondering what I should do... Save to buy Alexander the 1st, or upgrade my generals, and then... what to upgrade on my generals?
Ok, so two things... France 1812 (I noticed there is no forum on France 1812), and my generals.

You need better gens and to focus on Spain ASAP. Defeat Spain and Portugal, then turn east with Russia as your final goal.
You should either spam militia or light arty to defend against Britain and which ever Germanic state is active.

Its a hard one but you get two grenadier cavarlies, one in spain the other in poland. Put your generals on those. Really you have to wipe out portugal and spain as fast as possible with Army Group 1. With your other team you have to dispose of Austria and then Prussia. It becomes extremely tedious so prepare for that.

I usually put Murat on the Grenadier Cav. in Poland to support all the calvary generals there... Davout and Ney. In Spain I put Jourdan (has the highest "battle ability" of all the available generals) on the Grenadier Cav., I put Massena on the "Old Guard" in the unnamed city to the left of Paris... Any other tips? Like how should I wipe out Spain because they just spam really annoying (and OP) generals. I keep building grenadier infantry and fortresses to protect my cities. What should the Spain strategy be? Go slowly and methodically killing every unit in your path and capturing every city? Rush straight for Madrid, lower their moral and then defeat them? Or a combination of both?

Or a combination of both? I actually made my way to portugal first. Its a bit of a tough nut but I would go for the spanish cities one by one and reach portugal. Once portugal capitulates, it should be a bit easier. If you have to, go through northern spain than into portugal.

No, I would send them in to crush austria. This is a painfully difficult conquest after all.

I found a reasonable way. It involves attacking Prussia early. Push all of your french troops to the city Scharnhorst is on and take it. I’ll let you know if it succeeds. So far I got Prussia out of the game early.

So far I got Prussia out of the game early. So I move my troops to attack the city... Should I declare war on Prussia early, dely Austria, and send some troops to Berlin as well?

So far I got Prussia out of the game early. Yep it worked. i stopped playing once I wiped out Russia because I felt it was too tedious to continue (but it was a short victory since then). The best way to use the French troops in Poland is to get started with Prussia early and then defend around the area with poland. Declare war on Prussia once you have moved all of your French troops to the city next to Scharnhorst. Blucher should be attacking Hamburg (and not taking it), so you will likely end up not fighting him. Its a pretty easy process to capitulate Prussia as Poland will help you out. Afterwards, defend around Poland till Austria capitulates and go on the offensive with Russia. Austria will capitulate with the help of your allies so don’t bother with them. On the western front, I suggest you take Madrid as soon as possible and then push to Portugal once they’ve entered the war. If done right, all of their troops will be attacking Madrid (which you can counter by spamming militias), meanwhile you can quickly whipe portugal off the map. Afterwards, make your way to morocco and help out algeria there. Everything else is just tedious finishing up. Once portugal falls really the peninsular war is over. Just make sure that Usa doesn’t fall and you should be fine.
