So I am working on 6 general 2-2-2 setup for campaign. I have Massena and Barclay for inf, Ney and Murat for cav, and Alexander for artillery. I want something better then Jourdan. Who do I get? There are many choices. Haven't unlocked Maria in campaign yet.

Of course Mahmud II is the logical choice, with his Emperor rank, better than average skill combination and aura buff, he tops the best arty gens chart.

John or Mahmud. Depends on preference. Both have pros and cons.

John is quite cheap, the challenges are all quite easy except for the last one. He has good damage on forts and his terrain fighting skills are better then desert which is situational. But he has two which is weird. Nice art and battle ability though.
Mahmud has desert fighting which is very situational skill. He also has eh battle ability. But he can go for emperor so he will have good battle ability and he has the best skill in game, the aura.
I am am shifting towards Mahmud now, but I think Sophia is a bit better then John.
Kutuzov is expensive and ok, I don't get why he was so loved early on when game first came out.

Because Plain is a guaranteed god-liked skill since it’s first show in easytech games.

I will support john for now to get more damage for your team and he is cheap, then change him for Mahmud or buy Mahmud 2 later(if you have more slot)after some time(preferably around British empire campaign)

Russia campaign wasn't too bad, except maybe last mission, but HRE is a bit rough. Last 2 French missions are nightmare when you first face them. You probably will have to 1 or 2 star them and finish them later. Haven't really tried Ottoman yet.

Depends on what you want. Cheap or expensive. Sofia,if you have her is only 850 medals. Decent,I have her,she is my go to arty general. If you want the Mahmud,Alex, ect.then by all means get them. Sophia has some great skills.

Get Mahmud II or Sophia. Sophia is cheap and can destroy cities fast along with alexander, while Mahmud II and Alexander I will destroy anything, cities and units, provided you give them infantry support. Mahmud II is better tho, since the downside of Sophia is that she's a good princess that has a useful ability for campaigns and challenges, while Mahmud II practically doesn't have a downside and has the aura buff ability. Desert fighting isn't a downside since it's a situational ability which can be useful in conquests, campaigns or challenges where deserts are present, and is just a theoretical downside since it could be a better ability like salvo or something. His low battle ability can somewhat be considered a downside tho.

My Sophia needs little or no support, with a tent she can hold her own. And I also have Napoleon with tent same, with him on rockets and Sophia on siege cities and forts will fall very quickly. I use ambulance on Cavalry or Infrantry generals mostly. I can see how Mahmud would be useful tho however, but I took another route.

I worked patiently to get Kutuzov. His skills, when finally upgraded will be worth of every single medal. My suggestion is follow the best Master for having good results. I would rather buy no general than any, who cannot fulfill his Job. Napoleon told once to his top ten Commander when got the answer, that mission is too hard , "If you cannot do it, send the Polish General" . (I'm not mentioning the country, but the skills, passion, and faith, that soldiers put on their respected leaders- same in life - same in games ie. Massenna). If mission goes painfully, and the Victory is not easy and uncertain- we must train more. www.rc.umd.edu/gallery/napoleons-retreat-moscowSome great art.

I know everybody loves the aura buff generals and rightfully so but I would look at sophia as an option. The advantages are her price at 850 medals. You can spend what mahmud would cost and upgrade her to m general and get 1 or 2 items. Her 5 skills are upgraded fairly high so she can be very strong out the gate.

Sophia would pretty much be a must consider artillery general, if only her aura as a princess wasn't so darn useful.

Deleted, Mahmud is a great artillery general, especially when around napoleon or Alexander, he hits really hard, and is great on any artillery piece.
