Ok, the first thing. What should you get in the French tech tree... The "Old Guard", or the Horse Grenadier Guard? They are both OP units that have their advantages, but I don't know which one is better... so which one is better?
On my generals: I have 800 medals, so I could either upgrade my generals (I have Alexander 1st, Murat, Massena, plus 4 free generals), or I could buy a second infantry/cavalry/artillery general... So what do you recommend I do?

So what do you recommend I do? Old guards are more powerful, since they have the skill that reduces received damage by 25%. This includes fire damage i presume. Also, most people upgrade the Heavy Cavalry tech first, since lancers are pretty useful, and most campaigns the players are given heavy cavalry as starting cavalry units. Most people also upgrade the light infantry tech, which increases the health, defense and attack of old guards. Horse Grenadier guards are good tho, since cavalry that can hit cities hard is nice, but mostly cavalry is there to just secure cities and kill units. You usually don't use cavalry to siege cities. Old guards are also more spammable, so there's that. As for generals or upgrade, i'd max the aura skills of your generals, buy 2 ambulances and tents, some + attack items and maybe some +hp and + defense items, then i'd go for another infantry general (either Barclay or Karl). Having 3 strong generals is generally better overall. You can also buy Sophia or Lan if you want, they're pretty cost effective and worth the medals. Sophia just has that princess skill that is really useful, so i advise planning ahead if you want to use her as a princess or general.

But keep in mind that your next generals, Karl, Mahmud, and Dabrowski cost around 5k medals together.

What I usually did was use the medals I got from campaign to buy new generals. I would upgrade the generals from farming the netherlands individually. That way, I could make the most of what I got. But losing 800 medals isn’t the end of the world by any reason.

Louis Gabriel Suchet, You should use the mission new policy in Cairo for all of your generals especially battle ability generals like Alexander the 1st. and if you can get the art of war book, as it helps alot with getting generals up in titles.

I am spending no money on this game so I will not get the Art of War book... But thanks for the tip on leveling up the battle ability.
