I have thought of a brilliant new idea and tried it out. So one day in my conquest I had rokossovsky upgraded to the red label from the green one. I was using him in a conquest and I noticed how the change immediately reflected in the game after I upgraded him. I had this idea: What if I could do the same with skill boosting medals for generals? Since each general medal can only be used for one general, is it possible to swap it around for different generals? After all, I just need to swap the medals around my generals after I move each of them once. To illustrate:
I have guderian, rommel and govorov on super heavy tanks in a ussr conquest. Guderian has armoured assualt blitzkrieg and panzer leader medals. Rommel has crossfire and desert fighting(mountain jungle and desert). Govorov has no medals. Assuming they are all going to be relevantly used and are going to deal damage the next time you move them, wouldnt it be a good idea if: 1) Move guderian and use him to deal damage 2) Exit conquest, go to HQ and remove armoured assault and panzer leader from guderian, and give them to rommel by removing one medal that is the least useful(crossfire remove, leave terrain fighting with panzer leader and armoured assault) 3) Get back to the conquest and deal enhanced damage with rommel's better medals 4) Exit again and return guderian's medals back, take out terrain fighting medal and put it on govorov. 5) Boost govorov's damage, and then exit and return medals back again.
This can be repeated as many times as needed. Even though it is tedious, you are ensuring that at every move of your general he is at his best possible ability and damage potential. This can be used with any general type, like ace forces on tanks and then navy units, or terrain bonus medals on artillery then infantry units. I tried this out several times and it works very well, all my general's output are significantly increased. This trick can be used in campaigns as well. Would be nice is there was a rumour boosting medal, it would be perfect for this trick.

However this cannot work for invasion battles, even though it would be nice to let rommel have desert panzer leader and armoured assault medals, then swap one of the medals for crossfire(probably swap panzer leader out) before ending turn.

Cool I idea, last day I thought a similar thing like this. I thought, WHAT IF, I release a general from command, and but then will I still have him if he is placed on a troop?

Max Otto von Stierlitz this is the thread and the strategy I was making a reference to, its very useful for speed runs imo I feel this neat little trick, although not as impactful as a major doctrine shift in game, can have limitless potential in making the record setting aspect of wc4 much more competitive, and better scores and faster runs can be done. Maybe I couldnt pass your 1943 one star egypt record due to forgetting to use medal swapping on rommel in china, will use that next time when attempting the record Oh and yea this trick can be capitalized on in campaigns, especially in 1980, where I only use rommel and guderian(occasionally rokossovsky). Maybe I can use this tactic too to boost rommel's damage, especially where 1980 campaigns are devoid of deserts but too abundant in jungles and mountains(not getting graziani, chuikov, mannerheim, sun lr or govorov anytime soon lel

I have tested it out long ago. You can that way make every unit hit like a truck if you want maximal optimisation when it comes to output ignoring the cost of medals which would be gargatuant. But if you rebuy the general and get back into the game he will be on the same unit you placed him on. But if you sell him you will get +1 General slot to place on a unit, if you didnt already put the general you are buying next.

Is that the implication of this? If so it will be a huge breakthrough for speed runner, especially those with tons of medals and a few unupgraded good generals to sell and rebuy

and as an update this neat trick has helped me attain at least 2 of my wc4 world records(the 1939 and 1943 egypt fastest one star), by making rommel hit harder and secure the asian front faster

All my other records were set without it, in fact some of them were just first try. Not because that's something unfair, just it's very time consuming and there was no need for that. Though, when I looked at your achievements, looks like now I have to play a bit more serious

I'll test it and get back to ya'll soon
