I recently joined "Tradiția Militară" Association because I like this kind of events, despite the fact I'm only 16, and I want to get my first uniform soon. I was talking to a colleague from another forum who lives in Russia. Two weeks ago, he said that he was involved in a huge reenactment at the border with Minsk. According to I'm, at this event took part a few thousand actors, with dousins of vehicles (tanks, armoured cars, artillery and even planes). I was wondering why we can not do something similar here in Romania. Usually, our spectacles are resumed to 10-20 soldiers in total, rarely having a cannon or a car. But I guess we just do not have enough members in Romania. Other chance would have been if there was a large international festival in our country. I tried to get an answer from the leader of the society I'm in. This is what he told me: " Regimul armelor si munitiilor, modalitatile de utilizare a efectelor pirotehnice, disponibilitatea autoritatilor locale de a se implica, de a facilita, de a realiza proiecte europene, etc." In Romania, problems seem to be caused by Legislation issues and lack of interest from the local and national authorities. At least I can find out how is it in your country, if such events take place. This is also the internet page of the Tradiția Militară, the main reenactment society in Romania, which I'm very proud to be a part of: traditia-militara.ro/en/

vasiliy , to be honest I'm kinda gealous when I hear about the scale of these events in Russia (thousands of reenactors and dousins/hundreds of vehicles of all kinds) since in Romania everything resumes most of the time to less than 10 people and a machinegun if lucky. But at least it's good for you to have that. Here is a bit about my association: "I would like to tell to you about Association “Traditia Militara”. The association is the first Romanian member of the European Union of Military Historical Groups, is the oldest such group officially registered in Romania. We have participated in numerous events, ceremonies, demonstrations and battle reenactments, in Romania and abroad, in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia, starting with the year 2004. We are the first group ever to be invited by the General Staff of the Romanian Army to participate in the official military parade at the Triumph Arch on the National Holiday, on December 1st, every year since 2009. We cultivate the traditions of 10 prestigious Romanian military units: Regiment 2 Vânatori Gardă “Regina Elisabeta” (chasseurs), Batalion 1 Vânători de Munte “Regele Carol II.” (mountain troops), Regiment 1 Grăniceri Gardă (Border Guards), Regiment 4 Dorobanţi “Argeş” (territorial troops), Regiment IV Linie 21 Infanterie “Ilfov”, Batalion 4 Paraşutişti, Batalion de Gardă Regală, Compania de Pompieri Militari Bucuresti (1848), Marine Infantry Regiment, Regiment 2 Romanische Grenzer Nasaud (K.u.K. Romanian border guards). We cover the historical period after the year 1806."

Now that I'm living 90% of the time with my boyfriend in America, I find the only reenactments are of the American Civil War, and World War II. Im confused that there isn't more World War I and Revolutionary America ones. The doughboys are iconic and so are the minutemen. I get civil war and revolutionary war mixed up myself. But I'm pretty sure in this most SW part of US they hold that stuff. I find it interesting , but I myself don'tt go there.

Yeah, so girls wouldn't start flirting with you and then get disappointed and start complaining that all handsome men are gay.

As for my country, it's just recently putting in lots of money to the military. Used to be only civil reenactment, but since our President is a firm believer of might is right, our military is growing in strength as of recently.

I though this conversation would turn into something pro/against same gender relations. I like the reenactment idea, and I hope this year I will finally be part of an event with the association, since they usually perform far from my home (most of the time at hundreds of kilometres away, while I also am just in hightschool and have to learn every day).

National Military Musem's Day 2018 First time I could see a reenactment battle and had the occasion to meet my colleagues, after a few months of email conversation. I hope next time I meet them I will join them on the battlefield. I have a problem: most of them live in Bucharest, while I am "from province" (240km away from the capital), and by still beung underage I have a whole logistical nightmare just for getting there - where I stay over night, how long will the travel by train be, will my relatives be home and not ruin 2-3 days of their time etc You may ask me why I haven't joined a group that is closer to my home. The answer is simple: THERE IS ALMOST NO GROUP IN ROMANIA. I think there are no more than 10, most of them having the HQ in Bucharest. This kind of hobby is not so popular in Romania (although we like to proud with our "rich, glorious and brave history") and we are not very well funded (although Tradiția Militară is connected to the Romanian Defence Minister, we still have to pay from our own pockets for the uniforms - many times 2-3 times the average monthly salary, which is quite a significant sum of money) and are not allowed to use anything bihger than a heavy machinegun. So you will not see cannons, armoured cars or tanks on a Romanian reenactment, what about planes since there is barely one IAR 80 replica able to fly and one thats can't at the Military and Aviation Museum. In short, it's kinda hard to start a hobby like this here, but it is a pleasant one, especially if you like history.

Anyone else who can tell us how reenactment works in other European countrues? Here in Germany there are living too many pacifists i couldn't imagine that something like reenacting wars would ever happen. Back when I served in the Army (Bundeswehr) i rember that most of the odenary people dislike the military.
