Since I am officially the one who holds the most records in the conquests(eventually will not be of course)I think I am qualified to give some tips and difficulty in beating the curre nt records for every conquest years, and the best countries to beat the current records. stoic and dsongop , feel free to add some of your own. andrei too, if you come back online, and if you are interested of course.
1798:
Best countries for a speed run:
3 star: France, Austria
2 star: Prussia, Denmark
1 star: Warsaw, Netherlands
Comment for 1798:
Easy conquest to beat, but the records to beat are gonna be hard to beat. dsongop 's Warsaw record would be hard to beat. Positive 25 turns is possible, but unlikely. Fastest record is possible to improve, but only by 1 turn. If you manage to beat the fastest record of 1798 in 14 turns, you're either a god, really lucky, or a hacker.
As for the 2 star record, all I can say is good luck .
1806:
Best countries to beat the current record:
3 star: France, Britain(possibly)
2 star: Denmark, Warsaw, Rhine
1 star: Saxony
Comments for 1806:
Hardest conquest to beat a record. Britain is tanacious in it's defense, while Russia joins early, making you have to beat the combined force of Austria, Prussia and Russia. Doesn't help that the only viable ones to beat the records are the French Alliance. Andrei's record can be improved, but hard AF to do. Britain is an interesting case tho. I failed a lot of times miserably, and the closest I got was 31 turns Denmark because of Britannia.
Note: if you are able to beat one of the records in 1806, I will force stoic ,dsongop , best75 and the other members to vote for you to get the title of World fastest conqueror.
1812
Best countries to beat current records:
3 star: Russia, Britain, Austria, Spain
2 star: Prussia, Sweden
1 star : Morocco, Egypt
Comments for 1812:
Used to be the easiest to improve, but also the trickiest. America can make or break your run. My Morocco record can be improved, may luck be on your side when it comes to America. As for the 3 star record, it's easier since most of the 3 star countries have massive resources( Russia is the easiest, followed by Britain/Spain, while Austria is the hardest). 2 star record is the hardest to break. Prussia is more viable (but more difficult) due to it's central position, and once Poland falls you can consistently donate to the Americas. Try donating before Canada loses it's major cites.
1815
Best countries to beat current records
3 star: Spain, Prussia
2 star: Portugal,Denmark
1 star: Bavaria, Egypt
Most challenging of them all. But probably the easiest to improve, since only a few seriously tried it. Just make sure to donate to South America and America as early as possible. Spain is the most consistent one for the fastest record, since you can send ships to south America early on. Prussia is doable, but more unstable, since you can only use donations to help the Americas. Portugal has a similar play style to Spain, but weaker, while Denmark can steamroll France once it gains a foothold, and you have ships to send towards both North and South America. For the one star countries, they are really hard. You can only donate to your American allies, but it is possible to send some units to south America as Egypt ASAP. Morocco isn't as viable as 1812, while you can beat the French alliance in Europe by turn 34 as Bavaria( *edit: some guy proved me wrong by beating the 1815 record using morocco
, cojoncio) .
General tips:
* Best units in a speed run are Lancers, Grenadiers and heavy artillery.Lancers are better than heavy cavalry. More cost efficient, and deals almost the same damage. Faster too. Heavy artillery deals almost the same damage as siege artillery and cheaper, but slower, while grenadiers are grenadiers:overpowered.
*swap items depending on the situation. Give double ambulance to a dying general, while giving a double attack item to a general, especially a cavalry gen, surrounded by weak enemies to ensure the surrounding enemie s die in case every instance of victory rush procs.
*one trick when you have your general surrounded or is low health with nearby enemy gens is to give it double ambulances, end turn, then swap it with a double defense item after you get healed.
*build universities asap, and produce as many forced marches and blast as possible(limit:9)
* Against wider major countries such as Austria, go for the capital immediately. For smaller countries such as Italy ,capture smaller cities first
* When playing as a coalition country against the ottomans, sending one cavalry or infantry gen towards Asia minor will suffice, and just spam heavy artillery to make work on the cities. Mahmud II is also great here.
*when playing as countries like Prussia or Sweden, it's better to declare war on your neighboring country: Poland for Prussia, Denmark for Sweden and vice versa. Same is true for Algeria and it's neighbors. Removing your rival early gives you a lot of free time to do what you want.
* When playing a 2 star or 1 star country, make sure to build farms to prevent your population from going over the limit early on. Getting your resources 100 % the next turn is crucial.
* it is better to get your cavalry gens out than your other gens, considering if you are unable to deploy them all of course, and have only enough resource to build either a lancer, grenadier or heavy artillery.
*instead of disbanding a dying militia protecting a capital or major city, just move it on the side and train a new milia. This prevents the enemy from completely surrounding you.
*best countries to beat a speed run are countries mostly in a central position(Prussia, France, Bavaria, Austria). Countries good in a speed run not in a central position are either because there aren't any better alternatives, or because the alternative is on the wrong side (Bavaria 1812)
*When playing as a country in 1798, it's fine to deploy your cavalry gens in starting light cavalry, artillery gen on light artillery, and infantry gen on riflemen. Enemy units are weak, so you should still be able to deal massive amounts of damage to enemy units and structures
*4 cavalry gens is almost a must, although my original record for 2 star 1798(28 turns Denmark) was attained by only using 2 cavalry gens.
*when asking yourself in a situation where you are unsure if you should attack an enemy unit or a city: they are infantry and you have a cavalry gen, go for the unit. If artillery, always go for the city. If infantry, go for the unit.
*in 1798, when playing in the French eagle, declare war on Sardinia and Portugal turn 1(you can declare Portugal turn 2 for efficiency, but just declaring war turn one is more convenient)
*in 1806, when playing in the French eagle, declare war on Sardinia not later than turn 3.
*1812, bribe Italy and Naples once when using a one star country or 2 star country(except Prussia)
*1815, go for Paris immediately. Decimate the French ranks first before going for their cities. Once France is crippled, its allies would fall easily .
*when playing against France, go for corsica while France still has some cities left. This makes it so they won't spam their generals there, and would instead spawn them in a different major city.
if a city is one blast or attack away from falling, but it has a defender stationed in it, don't attack the city, but withdraw your units 3 hexes away. 8 times out of 10, the unit protecting the city will move away, while no unit spawns. It is guaranteed that no units will spawn if:
1.enemy exceeded population limit. If you see your enemies have a lot of units, chances are they are above the population limit.
2. Last city. Enemy either only spawn a militia, rifleman,or their last general. But most of the time, if you don't surround it, they won't spawn anything
3. Not surrounded. If you don't have a general nearby, they will most likely not spawn a unit
If this 3 conditions are met, 99 percent of the time the city will be unguarded the next turn, and the city is yours.
Tips from dsongop :
โข You gotta have max or close to max tech, especially for 1812 and 1815
โข I use light cavalry a lot. They're very cheap and are the most mobile unit in the game. Especially for small countries that have limited resources early game, I like to put my cav gens on them.
โข My recommended gen distribution is 2 infantry (karl&massena is the best), 4-5 cavalry (2 auras at least), 1 artillery, and maybe 1 navy depending on the situation.
โข Portugal 1798 also has potential, if you manage to conquer everyone before the Ottomans join.
I'll add more tips later.
Anyway, that's it. I'm eagerly waiting the new game, and I guess I don't need to improve other records for now(except for a few ones)unless dsongop suddenly beats my current records. Also, this is for future players who want to try their luck In beating some of the records, or wants to get the World fastest conqueror title. Just make sure to take screenshots when attempting to beat one of the records. Currently, the easiest ones to beat are the 1 star record for 1812, fastest record for 1815, 2 star record for 1815, and the fastest record for 1812. 1798 and 1806 are a bloodbath.
