Happy labor day for all our international friends as it is May 1st ,the day many in the world celebrate International worker day. We in the US celebrate a variation of this in September instead.

Because we want to celebrate labor without remembering what happen on the original may 1st 1886 that later became a holliday. Hundred of thousands of American workers marched and demonstrated and demanded legal rights and an 8 hours work day (normal back then was like 12-18 hrs). Many got shot by the police, beat, killed, arrested ect..ect an ugly side of our past history. All of that because they asked for a normal 8 hour work day. Kinda funny that we in the US started this holiday that is celebrated all over the world yet we will not celebrate it ourselves untill much later in a much more "sanitized" and "comfortable" and "sterilized" date. Yes, Labour Unions have been treated with rather... disdain in the US in the past. Good god the things they did to suppress them.
That being said, I don't blame the Americans preferring more comfortable versions of their history to remember; just look at what the rest of the world does with the Holocaust.

What particular about the Holocaust? Perhaps we can never fully know or comprehend, which is precisely why the Holocaust works at an unnervingly subtle meta-cognitive sphere

What particular about the Holocaust? Perhaps we can never fully know or comprehend, which is precisely why the Holocaust works at an unnervingly subtle meta-cognitive sphere And with the way people are attempting to remove the uncomfortable aspects of history from our libraries and media, as time goes on we will know less and less. Soon we will only know that the Holocaust was bad, but not truly how bad it was.

Soon we will only know that the Holocaust was bad, but not truly how bad it was. It is sad, if we don't remember the things humans have done we will forget them. I rather live in a world of acceptance then a world of lies.
