Easytech has been hard at work developing their new game, and I've given it some thought, here's the horse that I'm betting on:
It will not be European War 7. Or World Conqueror 4. Or Glory of Generals 3. My opinion is that they're using their past experiences with games, what failed and what succeeded, to make a new piece of intellectual property that they hope will give them a good kick forward. I don't know if they'll turn it into a new series but it definitely seems like it will be something new.
SETTING:
As they mentioned, it will at least feature a portion of the game being in the classical era, post marian reform and cohort organization in Europe, but during the Chinese Han dynasty. I do not think it will be like European War 5's widespanning eras due to that game being as much of a commercial success as 4 and 6, but I do think they will go as far as the earliest portion of the migration era (dark ages).
THE MAP:
Unless they want to include American Indians, which I personally think would be unnecessary due to the lack of knowledge of how they existed at the time of Rome and Han, it would include Eurasia, North Africa, and possibly Oceania. Rome, at its height, occupied both Europe, parts of Asia Minor, the Middle East, and North Africa, meaning those will almost certainly be in the game. And because Han China was confirmed, the Far East will also be in play. One question I have is if the maps will be concurrent, as in will it be one large map of the continents, or of they will do what EW4 did and have separate conquests per continent. I personally would prefer seperaten conquests, but with one feature: In EW4 there was a feature where you could "Conquer Asia", which only determined what princess you got and years ruled, if I remember correctly. I would like it, if after you conquer Europe and North Africa you could move to an actual conquest map of Asia, starting in maybe the Middle East for Rome, or if you're a barbarian tribe, the steppes of Russia.
WAR:
This one could be up to a dice throw to be honest, but I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying their going to keep with EW and WC's system of fighting. The late games, I mean. However, I am certain that they will compound on the new system of cities, or provinces. I think they will name each region, and also have a feature for things such as raiding, which was more common on antiquity. I also have hope they will add a siege function, allowing you to surround a city, damaging moral and health until the unit garrison dies. There will certainly be a diplomacy setting, but I'm sure it won't be compounded on too much in this.
