insertusername, your gens with Rumour may need more upgrades to their Rumour. The main issue lies in countering the northern pincer which requires your best gens to fight them. Yet, I think you bled out a lot and spent a lot of time to overcome them completely. Firepower is the key here. I'm not sure about the benefit of helping the Romanians to defend against the southern pincer, but I did that and cooperated to wear down the Soviets. Maybe this weakened their ability to spam troops?

I used Guderian,Messe,Konev and Leeb.
Guderian on super tank,Messe on heavy tank(2 stack)and leeb and Konev on RA(3 stacks)
I always fail when I try to save Palus,so I ignored him and blitzed towards Saratov.
And the cities captured are left with only defending troops spawning each turn.( ignoring Rokossovsky after getting the city) After capturing Saratov with Guderian, I used Leeb and Konev on Rocket artillery with Guderian to capture Starlingrad and kill Zhukov.(luckily, Zhukov was in water for one turn).But a heavy tank recaptured Saratov before I captured Starlingrad so after capturing Starlingrad,I rushed to Saratov again.I only destroyed Vatutin,Chuikov and Zhukov.Did it in 22 turns.
My tech is early Cold War for tank and artillery.and mostly Pacific for the rest.

In my earlier playthroughs losing Paulus usually ruined my attempt, but if you don't have enough firepower you'll just have to live with it. I think it's important to build meat shields so Paulus can live for as long as possible so you can take cities before your morale goes down for 2 turns |

I think it's important to build meat shields so Paulus can live for as long as possible so you can take cities before your morale goes down for 2 turns Saving Paulus is resource exhausting and quicker force depletion so I just try to grab the cities on the way to Saratov.Double morale drop didn’t ruined much since I was not engaging Soviet tank generals like Timoshenko and Rokovssky. But it’s important to defend the captured cities. |
