Ok, before I try to make any suggestions, I would like to remind that the game is very feasible to complete without spending money, so if you feel frustrated about not earning enough medals or whatnot we are always happy to help you with medal farming tips.
Imo, Manstein is the best iap with full panzer and speed. Field Marshall with best tank generals skills, sadly without rumour but this guy ranks behind guderian and arguably, rommel. Zhukov is not really worth since 0 infantry skills, and no rumour for his artillery skills which strangely has crossfire(additional retaliation damage, you wouldnt want ur artillery to keep getting damaged would you?). Eisenhower suffers the most with a lack of rumour which is very important for navy generals. Thus manstein should be a sweet all rounder for you to easily breeze the initial stages of wc4.

Summary of iaps:
To sum up this thread, sure manstein is an op iap general, but he should not be the one you rely on. Rather, you should use him as a supportive offensive general, or in conquests where you need a hard hitting meat loaf, or you have used up better generals like rommel in africa and guderian in europe, and need someone good to mop up asia, then manstein is a sound and wise choice. Shame I have no money though, as I would replace rokossovsky or vatutin with him fully upgraded. Maybe that's why Im unable to break any more wc4 records for speed runs as of now
hmm this guy is overlooked to be the worst iap... but for the sake of giving those pay 2 win players im going to give a review of eisenhower and how he compares to nimitz. The major flaw of Eisenhower is not being able to add skills, so rumour and ace forces is what makes nimitz skills wise better, but dont get me wrong when fully upgraded eisenhower can be a beast too, with leader and sailor. Shelter... only useful in end game, as 1980 ppl will spam missles. He is a marshal, so that means more starting health than nimitz(but nimitz ace forces will increase his max health higher than eisenhower). If you are not using him on navy, the next best choice is to use eisenhower on a triple stack heavy tank or super tank, he has so much health that the enemy needs at least 3 to 4 nukes to destroy him, and not forgetting if you max upgrade his shelter, he just cant die unless in close combat. For p2w players, eisenhower wouldnt be the best iap guy, and you will be better off buying medals and getting nimitz(or just grinding for him) but if you dont want nimitz, or covet the american president, or are too lazy or unskilled to discount nimitz, or sorely need a decently good navy general, then i would recommend eisenhower.

common non iap general paths: Messe-Leeb-Guderian-Konev-Kuznetsov-Nimitz-Rommel- (seemingly ideal and standard path) Vatutin-Yamashita-Konev-Kuznetsov(sold)-Guderian-Leeb-Rommel-Nimitz-Rokossovsky-Arnold-Dowding-Donitz-Mannerheim (My path haha) The similarity here is that nailing 3 solid generals in the beginning is very useful, 1 tank 1 artillery and tank/arty/infantry(infantry not recommended). After that, strengthening your roster and getting navy, air and support generals would be helpful to your progress. Thank you for name-dropping all of the generals that I need (Ideal and Standard path) So far I have Messe, Leeb and Kunetzsov. I only need Guderian, Konev, Nimitz and Rommel now. Do you recommend upgrading all of the generals that I mentioned? The path I took was: Leeb-Rommel-Konev-Nimitz-Guderian. I didnt get Rommel with full discount though, I bought him with just the 20% which made him a bit more expensive but still worth it and fully upgraded Guderian and nearly all important skills for Rommel and Nimitz (besides rank and promotion). I am currently saving up for Yamamoto and once I get him I will fully upgrade him and then the rest of my commanders. Though it was difficult at the beginning (and in end game, modern campaign). I really enjoyed only taking one tier 2 general and then getting the strong ones. Read more: european-war-4.boards.net/thread/7544/generals-guide-beginners-path#ixzz5okE8sJi4
