I am still waiting for the game to come on Android, but I want to get some knowledge of what to do as first moves. I'd like to get answers for the following questions, and more:
What building should I upgrade in Senate? What should I research or focus on in research? Which should be my absolute first general What traits would be useful to train on my free general? What would be the best units to use in battle (conquest/campaign)? What countries can be considered "beginner-friendly" in order to accommodate with the conquest? How to get more fun while playing the game? etc etc

In campaigns you will get decent generals to help, but knowing how to use your generals is important.
Honestly it does not seem like there is a "wrong" way to set up your commander, as he can get four skills off the bat. I have a list of all skills already posted, so look and pick what suites your playstyle, and if you need help just ask.
I like the balance so far, no unit seems blatantly overpowered and they all seem to be good as long as you act smart, using ballistae and the right weapons against the right armor types

The conquest is a lot to manage, as it is practically a copy-paste of the EW6 style. Attention will have to be paid to the population mechanic, as the closer you get to the limit the less money you make, making the game snowball very hard if you make a mistake.
I would stick to campaigns and expeditions early on, until you are comfortable with the way combat works and what upgrades you have.
(as a side note, the system is much more intuitive now, and all parts of the tutorial should be read and paid attention to as there are a lot of little things that are there for you to take advantage of/notice, it is a very deep game)

I heard that there is kind of a triangle of the units, so each can destroy each: archers are good against cavalry, cavalry is good against infantry and the infantry is good against archers. How true is that?

Very true archery destroys Cav and Cav destroys infantry and inf destroys archery

Very true archery destroys Cav and Cav destroys infantry and inf destroys archery To what extent? Do archers have 0 percent chance of winning against infantry if we assume they are of the same strength? Or do they have a chance to miss, etc? As long as their advantage isn't too overwhelming against the troops they have advantage over, then I think it won't be much of an issue

Also, what would be at the moment the best unit to use your free general on? Infantry, cav or archers?

Or if I want to buy my furst general, which one would be more suited? Should I get a bronze or silver general? And which ones look to be more useful: infantry, cav or archer gens?
