See my other thread at european-war-4.boards.net/thread/543/hold-ground-viii-wipe-enemy Background, i have maxed artillery and tank ...as it turns out, the theory is the same as in XVIII; that is, stick to your WC3 basics: As many super tank hits per turn as possible (I.e. hit w other stuff and let the tank finish) Rocket artillery w at least govorov. I may have had only 1, but it was key. Go for splash damage. Stay away from the alien base. Regarding specifics, keep bait in your city. This was by far the most important point, since the fall of the city leads to a complete red dog storm blitz of the oil rig. If you don't keep the city for most of the time, you will lose. Do not go after any other cities. Feel free to take minor resources if it doesn't get in the way of the big picture, but DO NOT OVEREXTEND YOURSELF. Put your best 2 naval commanders on the carrier and battleship. at the end, when the rest of your troops are gone, you'll need the high health to survive. For generals, I used Eisenhower on the carrier, nagumo, who is my 2nd best, on the battleship, govorov, Zhukov (I think), manstein on the super tank, and guderian on the heavy tank. Maybe using my artillery generals might have been possible, but I don't know that I had time to make more than I did. I think IX was easier than 8. I did it on the first try, even though I'm certain I didn't play it right.

Great now I just have to beat like 5 before this and I'll just need six more levels to get there, I am SO CLOSE to it

Maybe this is obvious, but I don't think I would have been able to do either 8 or 9 without maxed tank and artillery. As others have said, aliens are endgame.
