Hey guide creators my warmest greetings! There has been a couple incidents before when guides that were written for our EFC community have been reproduced/copied without authorization in apps that were released in the google store. These are guide apps but they look very suspicious because of the great number of permissions that they ask for and also because of the nature of the permissions like auto start on boot, and constant forever background running ect.. They essentially look like the entire purpose for these apps is to act as an ad server and tracker and look ready made for the purpose of collecting your data. Anyway it is highly recommended that you do not install these apps. Now to the purpose of this thread: EFC has not given consent for the reproduction of our guides but if you recognize that your guide has been stolen and copied in one of these rogue apps you need to contact the [Google Play Store] and complain to them. Here is how :
1) Go to support.google.com/legal/troubleshooter/1114905 and follow their complaint procedure. At the very end of the process you will be given a chance to give more details, make sure to add a link to our forum where your guide first appeared before it got stolen in that app.

Saltin, could you name a few examples of those ads so that we can do a quick check? Thanks

This thread shows the Google Play complaints procedure, it is for people who have had their guides copied without their consent and so want to do something about it.
As far as the ads, there is nothing to check. Everything that was written can be looked up by checking the public released permission list.

Ahh your previous question makes a little more sense now You can only file a complaint with Google Play Store if the app reproduces one of your own guides or unless it was originally published in a web site you own or unless you are the legal representative of the author whose work has been stolen. For example Deleted and stoic had their guides reproduced without their consent and/or credit so they can (and should) file a complaint with Google but you cannot lodge a case on their behalf, you can only do so if you yourself have made an original guide that has been reproduced without permission.

It was Deleted who did most of our GCR guides. There were a couple of other authors too, but to be sure of what was stolen, we have to download this suspicious application. Perhaps, Deleted, who already took the risk, will inform us of its content...

It's mostly the basic guides, like the one I made on the general guide for GCR as f2p, the Senate, units, etc. Most were my guides, while some were made by the other members such as Seger if I am not mistaken. Haven't filed a complaint yet, but I soon will. They should have at least waited for me to complete the guide before they copied it

I don't really mind that much. . Probably a guest. I mean, we can trace it back if he left out some tracks, but it's too much hassle for something trivial. Gathering info tho is not a cool move

Guys, you don't need to track who did this, it really doesn't matter. What's important is to do the easy Google store complaint outlined above so they block the app.
