I'm surprised there is not already a thread for this (unless I havn't looked hard enough). This is to share random but helpful tips to help with the game.

Getting rid of upgrades to buildings as a source of finance. It's helpful that whenever you don't need a part to a captured building like a library on conquest that you can dismantle it and get money. I do this as an emergency to defend city's when I don't have any money (as I likely gave it to the pirates).
This may also help with the accumulate supplies missions in the campaign

Weaken the enemy economy asap in conquest. Knock out enemy countries as fast as possible. Do not bribe neutrals till turn 10
