I've been thinking about yamamoto too...He seems like the overall general..and bai and sun also is in my mind what do you say? Arnold can be yamamoto on carriers. You won’t really need a navy general often. Same with halsey. I thought that yamamoto was a bit too expensive for what he offered personally, but he is still a solid ra general when needed. Sun is quite great but he dies quickly (but he moves quickly too so he heals quickly as well). He is a solid pick. I’d go bai or konev. I have great opinion on bai for his speed matching with guderian and patton while for konev because hes a hybrid..I tested them both in conquest and i dont know who to give up😂😂but these few gens are like the last best gens

Artillery leader is quite good, and konev you don’t have to worry about terrain. Konev will deal slightly more on average than bai. On rocket artillery, konev is significantly better than bai, whereas bai is significantly better on field artillery.

But it will be a pain in the neck if you don't have an admiral for break through 8 and alien campaign 5.

Not a bad skill either though. It means you deal the maximum damage your unit can once it triggers.

You don't need infantry or navy until certain alien campaigns or challenges. For now go for artillery. So now buy konev? Konev deals higher damage, whereas Bai is faster on field artillery and has better survival ability. Also, you probably will need an infantry general for challenges if you choose Bai, which is usually Vasilevsky. Vasilevsky + Bai is more expensive than Konev. I'm not telling you who to buy as long as it's not about Guderian Patton or Govorov. You get do decide which general fits your playing style more.

My personal suggestion for the final lineup it's still three artillery and tank, combined with someone capable of infantry and navy.
