You start with little gold and few troops, with negative population. so i invested in a princess to lower my artillery cost. After conquering the first target, took my time to bombard Metz and the cavalry general without exposing my troops.
Then focus on the 2 artillery generals (both key targets). I took my time and finished at the very last turn for a 3-star (14), but you can be more focused
