Remember EW5?
They are found as a part of Austria-Hungary's special Hussar units.
Sadly, since there's no Poland so Austria-Hungary's Hussars are the closest.

Well all you need is a Panzer III to annihilate any cavalry Indeed. Well, too bad that never happened... (or at least not the way it remained in popular culture).

Well all you need is a Panzer III to annihilate any cavalry Actually it is a myth Max Hastings in his book "Inferno" analysed all 4 accounts of "battles" between polish lancers and german tanks. In each of them it was rather a surprise attack of Germans or poor reconnaissance of Poles rather than a voluntary sacrificial act (or a bloody mistake) of polish cavalry. Poles might be brave, but they are not fools by any standards to attack tanks with lance . It was a poor decision to defend the whole territory of Poland anyway. But it is easy to be a great strategist long after war was over

But it is easy to be a great strategist long after war was over well unless you equip anti-tank weapons on cavalry (which gives a pretty sci-fi feel) tanks can easily destroy cavalry, but not necessarily have they done all that in WW2 Guderian's account in Panzer Leader affirms this encounter where polish cavalry were indeed bested by Panzer II

A picture to enjoy Indeed, polish horseman were massacred by tanks, but, as I said, it was rather an accident. Polish lancers never supposed to fight them
