Hey i want to purchase my first artillery general, and I'm currently considering Leopold and Hindenburg (don't want to use real money to buy Foch). Which general should I purchase ?

I got Hotzendorf as my first bought general and then just bought Hindenburg after saving up. I think only buying arty generals for the moment is worth it cause it is considerably more challenging to cut down city defenses in this game.

I worry that his attack isn't high enough since he only has salvo and storm fortifications as offensive skills. I don't want to use him to tank damage in a city, but maybe defense formation can raise his def enough that doing that is viable.

He is not suited for aggressive battle. I recommend prince Leopold instead

Probably the best choice besides Hotzendorf right now. Not sure about what Artillery expert does and I don't like mountain fighting, especially not on artillery. But yeah Tactic Master is great on artillery. I'm still considering Hindenburg because Defense Formation looks amazing.

Tactic Master is a must on artillery, and that is why Hotzendorf and him are my first two arty gen. However, Mountain Fighting is a kind of useless in this early stage of game since, with the current movement, artillery practically cannot get on the mountain.

I used with some success Alexander in EW6, and my first thought was: well, it is an improved version of Alex! But then I have noticed that his highest possible rank of nobility is a duke, and that is a significant deficiency. Yet, I think he can be useful nonetheless, like Dabrowski in EW6...

No, I meant Ivanov Oh, I made a mistake he can be a king... Well Hotzendorf should be first anyway. Prince + possibly the best skillset of the artillery generals. I might also just get both Hindenburg and Ivanov. Though I hesitate because I was disappointed with Robert E. Lee. Haha

Haha Though Commander skills were nerfed in 1914 it is still useful to have one or two generals with this skill as well...
