Jackson Moltke Stuart Sheridan Frunze I could sell Stuart once I get a calvary. I'm only keeping Sheriden because he is free. If you have enough, aim for Stuart's best replacement, Plumer. Plumer has the desired Commander skill, all of Stuart's skills and provides more firepower than the other two you asked about. I got Joseph. But I'll keep him in mind for the future. Thanks anyway. |

IIRC, you'll be provided with enough strong arty units to attack fortifications so an arty gen need not be your priority. Jackson is usable and available at the start too. This means you may consider Straußenburg to strengthen your deployment of inf. The free gens are locked and there are quite number of them, so maybe that's the cause? Or it could be that some gens are locked by progress like in EW5? I don't recall this issue, though. Maybe you can upload a screenshot? |

What about generals like hipper strauben or plumer? The free navy gens are relatively strong and usable, so navy need not be a priority at the start. I prefer Staußenburg because inf is the most common starting unit and there is usually 1 strong unit. Grant isn't the best free inf gen at the start so investing in a viable replacement seems good. As free gen Moltke Sr. is supposedly relatively good and usable and the strong cav gen, Jackson, comes as one of your first cav gens, cav is good enough for now. You may consider investing in Plumer mid-game, after you have invested in equipment. |
