Fun fact: Duke of Aosta is the only general in the game that has his real medal price appearing, because he is the only general that cannot go to a higher title. As all other generals can be ennobled to a title that costs silver medals, with silver medals translating into currency medals, technically all generals in the game cost medals.

Another fun fact: George Meade is the game’s cheapest general medal-wise.

I'm thinking about recruiting another general (don't know if a horse or a ship ) . I have the 4 free navy generals , but I could sell 3 of them , hiring Duke of Aosta (cheap and strong). On the other hand I could take the third cavalry commander (even if I don't find any need atm). What should I do , my liege ?

Ideally you should already possess: Cavalry: Jackson, Moltke, Ludendorff/Stepanovic/Johnston/McClellan/Joffre, Plumer Artillery: Ivanov, Hindenburg, Beseler Infantry: Boroevic, Straubenberg, Lee/Haig/MacMahon/MacArthur Navy: Beatty, Hipper (Bacon and Aosta are good additions, but dont sell your free gens for them)

Silver medals take long to get and I’m still on the end of Chapter 3. I only have 3 gold generals maxed (Lee, Beseler, Stepanovic), and take note that these are the fastest gold generals in their classes to level up.

I'd rather have a balanced team without having to depend only on 1/2 general(s).Once they're gone, you lost momentum

I could end Chapter V , but conquests are funnier. I maxed Moltke , Jackson and Beseler (Ivanov is on the way ; Hindenburger is medium rear ) . Straubenberg is almost maxed , but I regret having hired him (infantry is just "meh" in this game , then even Nikolayeva or what that female infantry general is called, is better due to dogfight . I'm saying this excluding the HMG hypothesis which is the only worthy unit to place in your commander). Then I bought Plumer which is promising after only a skill changing and the natural , higher defense , attack and cavalry health.

Infrantry might be meh but in some nations, weak ones desperately needs resources savings so no choice but to use meh to conquer.I would say level up most of your generals to at least prince to max them 1by1

That is to save the remaining slots for history gens.

Duke of aosta is amazing tbh. Once you purchase him, you can straight away give him lvl 5 skills. Bacon on the other hand starts at a very low rank and has a worse skill set then the duke imo (tactics master is the 5th slot naval skill imo). So really, the duke a steal whereas bacon is overpriced.

This game is also good in the fact that cheap buys are actually pretty useful. For example, nikolaevich is a pretty awesome cheap buy with not bad skills starting out even (desert is ok). Putnik is also an awesome cheap buy. Something that is absolutely absent from ew6, which kind of makes the prequel redundant, even though the napoleonic wars were more interesting to me than ww1

(P2W alert) Quite good. Better than buying an expensive Infantry general like Straussenburg. Saves me resources to get Cavalry and Artillery generals.
