6 cav is too much, it takes too many turns to build good cav units to put all ur cav gens on. thats y 3-4 is enough It's not always the best solution to use the highest damage units. E.g. a breatsplate general has no chance against two or three angry flamethrower, but light cav handle them lightly. I use normally 4 Cav gen and one is usually light cav.

normally I cant survive without at least 1 mobile inf gen on HMG helping me to strike at enemy artillery generals; for my tank gens will most of the time be on armored cars

dont get any of those generals, you only need hindenburg, ivanov and beseler, don't invest in any one else just because they are cheaper for cav, you only need plumer, jackson and molke, buying more cav gen is a waste. you don't need 4 or 5 for challenge conquest because you can only use 10 generals im pretty sure and 3 or 4 will be arty, 1 or 2 will atleast be inf, 3 will be cav and 1 or 2 would be navy 3 cav? That much arty? Weird. Cav is already decent at sieging due to victory rush and high stats and they’re more versatile and more capable of killing enemies, and enemies are the main obstacle in challenge conquest. Plus we can use air bombings and blasts to siege. I’d recommend 6 cav at least. And also just drop infantry. They can’t do anything unless you have a strategy that absolutely requires it. And then you need to think about whether or not a cavalry later on would help more or not. For conventional play they’re completely worthless. Navy too is a bit questionable unless you’re playing a big naval power that needs to cross a lot of oceans like Britain. Also you probably want Joffre and McClellan for history mode, but that’s way later. The medal economy in 1914 is extremely lenient. So doing that is no problem. Yeah. I'm planning to get Plummer and McClellan later on.

idk about you but i find the naval missions the hardest in campaign challenges so having hipper and beaty maxed is necessary. my goal is to finish all campaign challenges, i only do conquest challenges for the rewards so the campaign challenges will be easier. thats why i don't want to invest too many resources upgrading more cav generals. its not efficient to buy 5-6 cav gens and invest gold, books and medals into them because you only get 1-3 cav units in campaigns to begin with.
the only challenge conquests i plan on doing is 1* 1914 and 1917 because they give the attack medals for arty and cav. the rest are not that important.

Sorry for a bump, But what about the care package generals? Who do you have in mind? Not all of them can match some of the best "free" gens. Not all of them are as good as the famed Ludendorf.

If you have enough, aim for Stuart's best replacement, Plumer. Plumer has the desired Commander skill, all of Stuart's skills and provides more firepower than the other two you asked about.
