Actually I haven’t roasted this guy nearly as bad as he deserves to be. His skill set absolutely sucks. None of his skills are ideal as jf is the ideal terrain bonus for cavarly. Plain is common but he will be as slow as mccellan, but without the aura. Surpise? No he does not have it. Strike? Nope. Oh but at least this guy has edge!
Seriously, lots and lots of cavarly generals are better than this guy. Mackensen? He’s better. Halil kut? Desert god and he is free. Stepnanovic? Will only have one bad skill after 15 textbooks. After 15 textbooks, joffre will be a very slow and will be far worse than any of his rivals. Dear god. He is awful! Even Sherman passes with flying colors. If you want a bad general purposefully, get Cadorna.
If you swap manuever for jungle and riding master for strike, he will be a slower nikolaevich with plain fighting. But nikolaevich starts off better than this guy uncustomized. Golly, this guy sucks. And he is the only french cavarly general for history mode. Stick on surprise and strike. He will be a turtle, but a strong one at least.

 Not bad, tbh. All of these skills here are good. May lack Jungle Fighting’s mobility bonus but at least he gets a nice damage bonus most of the time. |

Not bad, tbh. All of these skills here are good. May lack Jungle Fighting’s mobility bonus but at least he gets a nice damage bonus most of the time. He’ll be a moltke w. edge. But he will also be pretty slow. Use him for history mode, then sell him for a better general and finish the game off. I give him a 4/5 (green ranking). 5/5 usefulness in history mode, but a 3/5 usefulness outside of history mode |
