Joffree is a strategical general . He is the only decent cavalry commander with plain fighting and you can make him good with 5 textbooks (or 15 like Getulio said before ). He is a Scipio of GC Rome , as mentioned by Friederich Paul (and he was a hell of a general! ) .

He has the highest Cavalry Abilities but his skills are trash and his general abilities r low so u at least need 10 textbooks and some kind of general ability boost item.

I can say that he is good (4/5 stars) . He is stronger than Moltke and slightly weaker than our best horses (I’ve only invested 5 textbooks to give him aura damage and he has lvl3 skills , 166 damage on plain).

On infantry and cannons . I think I’ll invest another 10 books to make him a second Jackson.

After 5 textbooks, moltke will be way stronger and faster. Because surprise >>>> edge + riding master. Plus joffre’s terrain bonuses are much worse.

Surprise gives a +8% when standing still and increases as cav moves.

I think every general has his own specialization
