Romania 1865 Conquest Guide:
Romania is one of five nations required to receive additional rewards in the 1865 conquest tab, in the following I will present my best of way of completing it without to much trouble. I had fairly good tech (Chapter 5-6) and generlas when I made this but it should be dooable with far less. In relation to other conquest I would rank it as Medium difficult. The beginning situation is quite dire, our economy is decent but we dont posses many aulity troops and happen to be surrounded by powerful enemies. Austria, Italy and russia are right on our border. Luckily we have some time before the Russians and italians join in, it is important to use this timeframe effectively. I usually preferr to place my arty gens on Howitzers but we dont have that luxury here. Place your best general on the existing light artillery and defend Belgrade. In round 2 we purchase another light artillery near Bucharest and place another artillery general in it. We defend our starting position until turn 5, it is important to protect our artillery and dish out maximum damage with it (build a third light artillery with general in Bucharest).
We counterattack from our position when the austrian attack is exhausted, attacking the southern austrian city and budapest with our artillery, use blast to hasten your progress. We recruit another light artillery near the coast (place another general when available, navy or infanty will do as well). Take advatage if your allies capture Vienna. In this stage you will need to build militias once in a while to hold on to your captured cities.
Once we have captured Budapest we split our army. 2 generals are sent to defend against the now joining russians, holding the line between Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest is my recommendation here. Your remaining troops are used to combat the now surging italians and balkan allies. The Ottomans and bulgarians will be of great help here, often they will be able to capture Montenegro and Athens. Try to snipe them for the income. If your allies werent able to take vienna send 1 arty general with some support to take it.
Hold the coast against the initial italian onslaught, but dont worry after the first wave is defeated they are quite weak. Afterwards seize control of the balkans (hate the map btw) and attack venice.
The troops on the russian front will eventually break the resitance, use the momentum to counterattack and take Donetsk.
Split your eastern army into two groops, one will head north and the other will head east.
Your main eastern army continues north to kiev, the second eastern army continues east and then north, hopefully the turks have held and you dont have to go to asia, if you do build some light artillery and militia and support them in Asia.
I upgraded Budapest and build a stable and factory there. Dont do this if you capture Athens or Vienna, build armored cars from there. Place your best cav general and send him to italy as support, I used my now healed starting general to support my eastern armies. I build a second armored car with gen and also send it to the east front. These generals helped with the time but are not required so dont sweat if you dont have great cav generals they are not required.
After capturing venice I split the troops, one part went for Milan and Turin while a small portion went south, the Bulgarians and ottomans will have done some work there already.
Just keep moving the eastern troops north while annialting all cities and troops on the way, if needed support the Prussians against the Russians near Warsaw.
Clean up around the Italian peninsula.
My allies always did a fine job, Portugal cant hold on against the spanish and british. france is attacked from all sides and cant muster much resitance. The danes will fall late but dont require much attention. The cleanup can fluxuate but S rank should be easily obtainable. Utilize your cav generals to quicken this process.
Thank you for your time and good luck (hopefully you dont need it).
