I’ve tried the same strategy that had gotten me a A-rank and it didn’t work. The Confederacy was struggling against the Americans, and France and Peru took South America relatively earlier than usual. Spain was on the brink of defeat.
My strategy was to take Boston and lend-lease the CSA, but nevertheless they struggle against USA and are unable to become strong enough to lead an attack against Mexico and South America.
Is there a new strategy? I would ignore this conquest if the rewards weren’t just for the first time the conquest is cleared.

That shouldn't be the case. My guess is just bad conquest RNG. The general strategy should still be to steal some cities and lend-lease just as you did.

Didn’t work.
Even if I delay Mexico thrice they ruin the day of the Confederates by attacking on the rear and forcing the CSA to split their forces.

 Phew. I don’t know how, but I managed to make the CSA survive. Spain, Colombia and Venezuela are gone, but what matters is that the Union is almost gone and we’re invading Mexico. Peru and France are now just sending some weak units and, to little effect, trying to attack us with what remains of their once-strong navies. |

 Finally. 122 turns. This was an extremely tedious conquest.  At least it gave Jackson an unreal amount of XP. He had just become a Duke, now he’s almost a Prince. And once a Prince, that means Level 5 skills.  Thanks to this conquest, Lee is now at the last rank before Emperor. I'm definitely never going to do this very conquest again, but at least it helped to progress with my generals. |
