I recently mislead myself into believing that machinist skill helped heal all your tank/arty units which proved untrue. Now I'll ask on this one first. Does this skill just pertain to the unit the general sits on? Is it a useful skill? How does it work? Thank you all beforehand for some clarifications here.

Personally it should not be something that compels you to intentionally buy it as an additional general skill. It has insufficient merit for that purpose. On the other hand, if it is already stuck on a general like Yamashita or Nimitz, then it is still a decent skill to bear with since with experience being gained more rapidly, your generals will enjoy having higher health and an increased attack. To your first question, yes it is an individual skill. The only aura skills in wc4 are wolfpack and crowd tactics, which are basically the same skills with the difference of terrain (land and sea). Generally speaking, experience is earned through using your generals to attack units, and killing units seem to bestow more experience.

Even without Ace Forces, your generals can still earn experience fairly quickly and easily. Whilst using Guderian without ace forces in my daily invasions (well last time now that im on an "indefinite hiatus" with wc4) he still is able to reach the yellow star experience symbol at the end

So many Thanks! Also on a personal note I agree that Bing Crosby, and I would also perhaps include Glen Miller, and those USO shows(especially the Ladies) really helped keep everyone in good spirits.

Nothing like good old jazz or popular hits back then to improve morale

Yes, it's only for the units the general is on. All it does is recover HP until it's full. Basically comparable to a never ending health boost. But if you're under 50% health, your damage output decreases, so machinist can heal and revert the damage increase to its previous value. It's useful in certain situations, but not an endgame skill. I have Graziani who has it (a skill he comes with), which does help in his survivability against more powerful AI generals like Zhukov and some terrorist generals. I'd say any tank and artillery skills are priority for the respective units, as well as rumor, over machinist. For example, I put Panzer Leader and Armored Assault on Graziani.

I agree with you while I used my Manstein during conquest he always receive sustained damage every Turns and his health will be lower than 50% in few turn at least he has tide of iron skill, It‘s good idea to make sure he have half of his full health and have continuous healing. But I think Have Blitzkrieg on Graziani would be better.
