To begin, rental generals are generals that you can purchase during a game for gold which is a cool feature that sadly, many of us are unaware of or forgot existed. They are only available for that specific game and once you either win or lose, they're gone. This guide will show you how to unlock the ability to purchase the rentals starting now! (I will be using the United States in 1861 to demonstrate) In Washington D.C, you will notice that there are two extra tabs on the bottom. The 4th tab allows you to trade resources and the 5th tab allows you to recruit generals ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now in New York, there are no extra tabs outside of the upgrade city and recruitment center. Fear not my fellow Tri-Statians (Or to whomever is curious) for I will show you how to unlock it! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You will notice that there are two icons next to University and Market which are the same as the tabs on Washington. To unlock them, you must upgrade the corresponding facility to level III. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a few turns and upgrading New York to City VI and University III, we finally have the ability to recruit your new officers and to trade excess resources. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations! New officers and generals at your service! For a certain fee of course And that concludes the short guide. If you need any more help/information, feel free to ask! Hope it helps and happy Conquering!

Thank you, Pietro Badoglio! But don’t think of this as a favor for me. Think of it as a huge help for the community!

Ah ok. I’ve always wondered from where Henry Halleck comes from (I’ve played a mod that gives you every single general in the game. It’s not updated, though, so no Japanese generals) since I’ve never seen him on any missions. This gives me something to spend on, nice. Those units are quite good!

Are the units always Tier IV or above?

Are the units always Tier IV or above? Apparently not. In 1914 some are on light infantry

I would say they are all above tier 1.

BTW, Saltin , could you please pin this thread? I feel like the guide is too small to warrant a pin. I'll probably eventually make a beginners guide and have this in it if no one else makes one first

BTW, Saltin , could you please pin this thread? Hi, We can't pin too many threads or it can be a turn off for readers. Can I suggest for Pietro Badoglio to simply add a link to this thread from the library general section. This is a useful topic for sure and it can easily be missed! So let's link it at the library.

Perhaps under the generals list, then you create a sub spoiler labelled "in-game rental generals"

You can hire a maximum of 9 generals. That’s quite good since they don’t count towards the limit of generals that you can spawn and they are usually strong.

Works at best with countries that start off with a Level 5 Capital and a good economy.

Thing is when you spam them your total population will increase as well, endangering your limit. So its always advised to hire rental generals after some form of planning

Samsonov, for example, can help clear some enemy units trying to encircle you.
