Hi,
I just succeeded in getting the 50% discount on John. I still don't have an artillery General.
What is the best way to go? Get John at the 50% discount, or is Mahmud so much better that it is still worth it to save up and get Mahmud?

Definitely get Mahmud first. John or Alexander can be your second artillery general

Depends. I don't recommend John at all because Artillery+Forest/Mountains is slow. Mahmud if you intend to use two artillery generals, Scharnhorst if you only intend to use one.
