March is a good skill but it is also the most expensive skill costing 45 medals per scroll. In order to get a general to lvl 3 march, that is 315 medals which is super expensive. Its only ideal for speedrunners and the non commander generals. For one hex more movement in campaign. Its not really too great.
Like plain fighting. And abismal amount of medals for 4 extra damage.

Funny that i haven’t noticed his +3 speed. Maybe because you rarly do three steps without beein slowed down by obstacles, terrain or rivers. Great! Eat my dust, Crompey!

Try comparing the speed of a legionaire w/o the commander to a legionairre w. the commander. If it doesn’t make a difference, my guess it is because of your tech level.

Commander has same speed like Pompey, 12 move on a heavy Inf. Basic 7 +2 training +3 commander DNA. It’s just a bit confusing coz the training applies only for my battle group, not all troops of my nation. When I don’t command Pompey he has only 10 move.

The inbuilt +3 move is of course a great point for using commander for archery (and build a better Mithriades). With Pompey and Crassus there’re 2 good choices for a fast infantry.

I also did that on one of my runs. A huge disadvantage for archers is that you have to beat the conquest of asia expedition to get it. Which is the very last one in the game. But you are right. You are right. There are two amazing infantry generals in this game. There is only one amazing cav (anthony), but arminius can be comparable to hannibal with the laurel crown (item that is the equivalent to the inspire talent). Mihredates is good but his talent and besiege is not very good. Drusus is the best archer imo but he lacks archer commander. Really it comes down to preference on what to make the commander. But since you like infantry I would make him an infantry commander.
